Principle 11. Develop Your “Feeling Mind”
We have all done so well to develop our “thinking mind” yet many of us lack a developed “feeling mind”.
The feeling mind involves our capacity and ability to sense the sensations in our body in real time. The reason having a feeling mind is so important is because the sensations in our body happen in the NOW.
Our feeling mind is about being fully present and receiving real-time feedback from our energy body so that we have an enhanced capacity to move and act from that intelligence.
Another name we could give the “thinking mind” is “intuition” because it works on similar principles of bodily and energetic sensations in real-time.
The thinking mind is all about conceptual and intellectual mentalizations. It is never grounded in the present moment and yet, the thinking mind is what we are all trained and taught to develop. Our schools, universities and occupations all tend to focus on developing our thinking mind as if it is the single most important attribute to have.
So who taught you about your feeling mind?
Has anyone ever emphasized the importance of your feeling mind?
Other benefits you get for having a strong connection to the present moment include enhanced charisma, creativity and clarity. When we are plugged into the present moment with this enhanced clarity and confidence, naturally, we make better decisions in regards to money and wealth.
Therefore, doesn’t it seem that developing our “feeling mind” could well be the most important thing to focus on and develop? And also, one of the most important things to teach our children?
Where to start?
Firstly, the easiest and simplest way to get into the feeling mind is to notice the sensations in your body.
Notice your feet.
Left leg.
Right Leg.
Belly. How does the belly feel. Is it relaxed or is it tight and constricted?
Left shoulder.
Right shoulder. Let them soften.
Notice your breathing. Is it steady. Short or long?
In most cases, it is not even required for us to adjust these things consciously, because just becoming aware of these things triggers a natural response that promotes recalibration.
Just becoming aware of our body and our breathing just a few times throughout the day will naturally and effortlessly trigger our bodies to shift to a more relaxed and balanced state.
Isn’t that amazing? And isn’t that easy?
That’s all there is to it. The more you practice it, the more easier it becomes and the more often you will naturally return to it.
There are more things we can do to enhance and develop our feeling mind; however, for now, just try becoming more aware of your body and breathe a few times throughout the day and see how you go.
When we have an enhanced “feeling mind”, we are more clear, intuitive, and creative.
