Steem Bot Tracker - New bot indicator, info, and more!

I apologize that it has been so long since my last round of updates to the Steem Bot Tracker website. I've been crazy busy between various Steem projects, vacations, and huge storms knocking out power in northeastern US! During that time I've received a lot of great ideas and requests from the community, and I'm happy to share that some of them are now implemented!

If you have a suggestion or feature request I encourage you to submit an issue on the GitHub repo for the project. That's the best way to make sure I see it and don't forget about it!

New Config Settings for Bid-Based Voting Bot Owners

A number of new features have been added to the bid-based voting bot software packages over the past few weeks and I've started to add them to the bot owner configuration tool so that they can be shown on the bot tracker website.

config_settings.JPG

The new settings are as follows:

  • Min Post Age - This is the minimum age (in minutes) of a post that can be submitted to the bot. If this is set to 20 minutes, then if a post would be voted on by the bot before it's 20 minutes old then the bid will be refunded. The goal is to prevent people from posting some crap right before the bidding round ends and then buying a vote just to earn a profit by circumventing the curation rewards.

  • Round Fill Limit - This specifies the limit of how full each round can get for this bot. A limit of 1 means that once the value of the bids sent to the bot equals the total value of the bot's vote (after curation) then the bot will stop accepting bids for that round. This is meant to prevent rounds from becoming too overbid which can lead to a large loss for everyone in the round.

  • Posts Comment - Indicates whether or not the bot posts a comment on the posts that it upvotes.

  • Blacklisted Tags - A comma-separated list of tags that are blacklisted by the bot. This means that any bids submitted for posts containing one or more of the tags in this list will not be accepted and will be refunded.

I highly encourage all bot owners to update their bot settings here: https://steembottracker.com/config.html

New indicator / filter for bots that don't post a comment

nocomment.png

This was a very highly requested feature to be able to easily see and filter for bots that do not post a comment when they upvote a post. Now bots that do NOT post a comment will have the indicator icon shown above and there's also a filter for that icon which you can click to only see those bots.

Added "ROI Limit" column to the bid-based voting bots table

As mentioned above there is now an option for bot owners to specify a "round fill limit" setting which limits the amount of bids which are accepted each round and therefore guarantees a certain level of return on bids.

roi_limit.png

As you can see from the image above the @postpromoter bot currently guarantees no worse than -10% ROI on all bids. I personally believe this is a good number since I think the ROI from using voting bots should come from the increased visibility and not directly from the bot's vote. I think that a max -10% ROI is enough to prevent spammers from using the bot for direct profit while still preventing legitimate posters from taking a large loss from over-bid rounds.

I hope that more bots begin to experiment with this feature and that a wide array of different options will become available in the near future.

Updates to the Front Run the Bots feature

Previously the Front Run the Bots feature did not take into account the age of the post, so most of the time posts that showed a very high curation reward were in fact just very new posts, and due to the reverse-auction mechanism would actually yield very low curation rewards. Thank you to all of the people who brought this to my attention!

front_run.JPG

It has now been fixed so that the payout calculation will take into account the age of the post, so if you see a high curation payout for a post you can be assured that it is correct.

Additionally, I changed how the curation payout was presented. Previously it would show an ROI figure as a percentage of your vote value. So if your vote is worth $1 and you would get $0.50 curation rewards, then it would show -50% ROI.

I felt this was misleading since actually a $0.50 reward for a $1 vote is pretty good. As you can see in the image above I've changed this to directly show the curation reward per $1 of vote value.

Updates to the delegation manager tool

The delegation manager tool has been really popular and I've received a lot of feedback on how to improve it. I've finally gotten around to making a few of those improvements, and again I always welcome additional comments and suggestions!

max_delegation.JPG

The first update is that it won't let you delegate too much SP. I had some cases of people delegating all of the SP in their account and then not being able to use the account anymore due to bandwidth limiting.

In addition, the delegation manager also takes into account SP tied up in a power-down when calculating the max amount available to delegate, since SP being power-down cannot be delegated.

Thanks for your support!
As always I want to thank everyone who has helped and supported me in creating this tool. I love that it has been able to help so many people learn about and use vote selling services to promote their content and grow their following and earnings on the Steem platform. Once again if you have a suggestion or feature request I encourage you to submit an issue on the GitHub repo for the project. Please stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!

Super work. Do you have a link for how we can create our bot and integrate it with your code? I checked your github but couldn't find instructions. Would love to set up a bot.

(I am a coder too)

Hi @hitwill, if you would like to create a bid-based voting bot you can use the post promoter software which I have created here: https://github.com/MattyIce/postpromoter

You can also contact me on Discord or steemit.chat if you want to discuss further.

very nice, looks awesome!!

Hey Will, just a random question came in my mind. Probably not even relevant. But do you consider setting up a general bot? emm something that dawn on me was that it is really hard to find a good upvote bot that would be dedicated to a specific theme or a niche. Idk if it's plausible or not. Waned to share it so...yea. haha But anyhow, best of luck!

Thanks for that - actually looking to create a bot but hadn't thought about dedicating it to a certain niche

Hi Will, It's a great idea to dedicate to a certain niche - the bot would quickly become widely known in that niche and users would prefer it to other general bots.
However, please consider making a second bot for art lovers because presumably, your bot would service the tech and coding guys...lol.

Regards

If you like you can also delegate some SP to me. We can discuss the price.

There is issue with SteembotTracker Delegation Tool, may be because of this update:

In addition, the delegation manager also takes into account SP tied up in a power-down when calculating the max amount available to delegate, since SP being power-down cannot be delegated.

If my account has 1000SP out of which I delegated 500 to some account say @spydo and now I want to increase/update my delegation to 600SP, since the effective SP left in my account is 500 and I want to Update delegation to 600 SP, the tool is returning this error message:Screenshot_2018-03-06-07-33-00-852_com.android.chrome.png which I think should not be there since I want to Update my delegation and moving it from one account to another.

Great catch, thank you! This is now fixed. Please let me know if you find any other issues!

Hi buddy,

I know that this is not very "fresh" post but I still hope you can advise/help me.

I was trying to use steembottracker.com to boost my posts and I experimented a little bit with this tool.

My impression is:

  1. if Im planning to upvote my own post as soon as possible after post has been published, then I will benefit the most as an author and curators will benefit very little (as they will most likely upvote after bots did their job).

Is that correct?

  1. So if I would like to benefit my curators (as Im really here for right reasons) then the best think is:
  • NOT self-voting right after I publish post
  • allow curators to upvote on your post (hopefully they autovote)
  • after 30minutes self-vote and then start using bots.

This way my own reward as an author will be smaller, but all my curators would get bigger portion of reward. Am I right?

I hope you can share your experience. And of course check out my profile if you are passionate about cryptomarket or AI.

Cheers, Piotr

Hey man - first of all, please don't post the same comment on every single one of my posts! One post is plenty.

Everything you said is correct, and I would recommend that you wait even longer than 30 minutes to upvote your posts and/or buy upvotes for them to allow your curators as much time as possible to get in. In my opinion this is a good strategy for long-term success on the platform.

I will check out your profile - good luck!

Hi
you're very right. I shouldnt do that. I value your knowledge and I tried to read most of your posts related to this topic and I simply wanted to be noticed.

Im sorry and one more time thx. I will definetly follow you as I value your knowledge a lot.

EEK! Please help - The indication of what time limit the bots have is gone now.

You used to have a column telling how many days the bot would vote up to and today it is gone. This is a very crucial piece of information.

I love using this and appreciate all your efforts.

Hi @fitinfun - that was a mistake! Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I will try to get the max age info back up as soon as possible.

I saw you got it back, and thank you so much. The day without it was very exciting and I'm glad it's back. My brain is very taxed as it is!

For your attention:

  1. Your website does not contain the criterion of whether a bot votes on comments
  2. booster, minnowbooster, greengrowth and steemdiffuser employ automatic refunds but are absent in the list of automatic refund bots, and they are among the most reliable auto-refund bots.
  3. Contrary to including 4 of the most reliable bots, you included a few bots with iffy refunds, which automatically refund, except from the times when they do not, and they make the good omissions stand out even more.
  4. Your website's concept can be implemented without necessitating Javascript, like the best of them all (perfect software and garbage as a service), steemd.com can, even leaving a couple of features disabled without JS, but you made it fully dysfunctional without JS, which is always a bad sign.

After all of the above, I benefited off your website.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

  1. The site does show a comment bubble icon next to bots that allow voting on comments. Very few bots allow that though and there is currently no filter for that so you just need to scan the list for that icon.

  2. Booster was down for an extended period of time so it was removed from the site. When/if it is back up and running it will be added back in. Minnowbooster is not a bid-based voting bot so it has its own display in the Content Promotion Services section. I am not familiar with greengrowth.

  3. I try to include all bots in the site except for ones that are intentionally scamming users. I cannot police the huge number of bots on the site however if I receive complaints from users about a bot not functioning as advertised I work with the owner of the bot to rectify the situation or they will be removed from the site.

  4. Yes, it can definitely be implemented without JS. I built the site in my spare time and it's free to use for everyone. I focus the little time I have on features which are requested by the users and other than you no one has had an issue with the site's use of JS. The site's code is also open source so if you feel strongly about the use of JS then I would encourage you to make the desired changes and submit a pull request!

  1. Good to know. The majority's disablement of comment voting only increases the necessity for it to be a category in itself, and there are much more comment upvoters than I thought before.

  2. Minnowbooster started as and remained throughout a bid-based voting bot, it gained more functionalities, but it is still a bidbot.
Now you are familiar with greengrowth and steemdiffuser .
Greengrowth is quite similar to your honestbot, except it enables upvotes on comments and its automatic prevention of overbidding is more lenient and still rare just due to its existence.

  3. At least 2 of the bots you currently have listed are intentionally scamming users, and while it may be outside of your responsibility to care for it, it does make your omissions of good bots in their relevant categories more glaring.

  • Notice that I edited my previous comment multiple times since you replied on it.

smartwhale also disappeared from the automatic refunds category or it just misses there.

To me, the time deadline on bids column was so much more useful than the current ROI limit column, and it helped spare the blockchain from redundant sends and refunds due to this deadline.
Did this change happen in the last 24 hours?

Minnowbooster is definitely not a bid-based voting bot. Bid based voting bots split up a 100% vote every 2.4 hours between everyone who has sent in a bid in that time. Minnowbooster gives a fixed value upvote right away.

Please let me know what bots you feel are intentionally scamming users and I will review and remove them from the site if I find that to be the case.

The removal of the max post age column was an accident and has since been re-added.

Good work bud, a few good updates that I think will benefit bot users. One very minor thing I noticed was a minor grammar mistake, they not the. I know its not a big deal, but a professional like yourself is probably looking for perfection

Guess that filter doesn't apply to me!

Thanks! I'm embarrassed that I didn't catch that!

No biggy, I was just not picking, but if the roles were reversed i would want someone to point it out to me. Good work

I love the ROI limit. Glad we now know the worst case scenario, I have been having a hard time with low ROI lately. Great new feature I will definitely use thanks!

Any advise? I am working on my first little project on the steemit blockchain and I am trying to automatically redeem my rewards and then convert them straight into steem, but the documentation says I have to wait a week for the conversion(from SBD to steem) to settle??? And it I don't seem to be able to make a bid lower than the market rate (I like a bargain) Is there any way around this? Any advise would be truely appreciated.

I'm not sure what documentation you are looking at but if you're trying to sell SBD to STEEM on the internal market it is instant and you should be able to set whatever bid/ask price you would like.

Feel free to contact me on discord or steemit.chat and i can try to help you in more detail.

Your awesome thanks!

Thanks for the update @yabapmatt, I love this tool, it is so helpful for us who are new to Steemit. I never fully understood bots on Steemit until I discovered your tool. I now see that they have a very legitimate and useful purpose for the community. I have used a few of the bots and they have been great for post promotion.

They next function on Steemit that I want to investigate and use is 'SP delegation'. I have read a fair bit on the benefits of delegating SP. @jerrybanfield had a great video explaining it. Awesome to see that you have an easy to use tool for delegating. I will be sure to use it when I am ready to start delegating.

Once again thanks for your efforts and dedication to the platform, I am very happy and proud to have you as one of my witness votes.

I just recently got around to using bots on my posts. I can tell you that SteemBotTracker has really helped me in making this transition. I actually don't know about most of these services you mentioned above but I'll check them out.

Thank you for listening to the community. Sometimes in the future, I should be able to contribute my voice to the development of the project as soon as I become an expert user.
