Review: Super Silver Haze

Super Silver Haze is a delightful sativa that provides an uplifting euphoric high. One of the more popular sativa strains, but doesn’t blow you away with it's looks. The flower is nice, but nothing special. However, the high is what gives Super Silver Haze it’s popularity among stoners.

The lineage comes from Northern Lights, Skunk, and Haze. It won first place at the High Times Cannabis Cup three years in a row (‘97,’98,’99). It is a sativa, but one of it’s parent strains, Northern Lights, is an indica. It is overpowered by the sativa heavy Skunk and Haze, but the touch of Northern Lights definitely add to the high that is so sought after.

The flower isn't the prettiest i've seen. The buds are compact and dense and the nuggets run on the smaller side. 

The frosted crystal coating is pretty impressive and sticky to the touch. However, the orange and red hairs are underwhelming along with the simple shade of green. If it’s grown well it can be a pretty flower. But it won’t knock your socks off when you open the jar or show it to a friend.

The smell is sharp and piney with a little hint of mint. The bud burns cool and the taste is a little sweet and earthy. Like the smell, the taste isn't overpowering. Just a nice compliment to the herb. I got hints of citrus with a slight mineral notes in the after taste. Very light, pleasant, and clean.
What places Super Silver Haze in the marijuana parthenon is the high. It’s so light and happy, like a warm summer’s day. The first sensation is the classic sativa pick me up. A little pep in your step. You won't be organizing your closet for hours, but you do feel an increase in energy.

Then the euphoria kicks in. I started feeling very happy and giggly. Stress melted away and a smile came to my face. Some very simple things were making me laugh. I found such enjoyment in sensory activities like eating, drinking, and listening to music. I was humming around noticing details and finding reason to admire the simple and everyday.

Then, after about thirty minutes or so, when most sativas leave you a little empty and groggy, the relaxation kicks it. The small percentage of the northern lights indica becomes present and puts you in a nice calming buzz. At that point, I sat down and had a nice moment of contemplation. And then took another hit.

I give Super Silver Haze a 4.5 out of 5. For sativa fans, you can’t get much better than this. The high always brings me to a very happy place without any trace of paranoia or anxiety. The only criticism I’ve heard is people wishing the high was longer. But you just have to smoke again. It’s great in the morning or outside in nature or just hanging out at home. To be honest, super silver haze is great anytime!
