That’s a picture of me, @heyitshaas and another friend of ours from 8 years ago, taken during an awesome road trip that took us through California, Arizona and Nevada. Martijn Haas is one of my closest friends. He goes exclusively by “Haas”. Even his parents call him that even though their last name is, of course, also Haas. I know, it’s odd...
Haas and I have been good friends since we were about 12 and for 6 years we were roommates too. When he decided to go traveling and move out, I finally got a dog. Something he had always resolutely used his veto on. Her name? Haas! I wanted to be able to continue to give orders to “Haas” from time to time…
What I admire about him the most is that he jumps into the deep end over and over and I think it makes for great stories and blogs so I really wanted him to join Steemit. I figured it’s a good start for him to potentially be able to walk away from the 9-5 grind, which is quickly becoming a real burden for him. He’ll not only be able to provide this community with plenty of fun stories but when it comes to traveling, he’ll also be able to contribute to this community with plenty of tips and advice!
Haas, I’m excited for you to start this adventure. It has been an awesome ride together for all those years and I really hope that this is the start of something really good for you!

This is seriously seriously seriously the best place. I'm absolutely sold on the whole thing, and it has my loyalty. People (strangers who actually feel like friends) are already supporting my work in ways even most of my friends didn't!
