Minnows- Will Redfish Survive or Be Eaten By A Whale

A lot of talk has been going around that affects Minnows . Not all minnows more so the Plankton's . Redfish mostly , A Redfish is a Plankton who holds less than 500 SP . That is a lot of minnows . Is it you !!!!!!

Lets cover some things That involve Redfish .

You should be engaging with others at the maximum level your abilities allows . By engaging I mean making comments on post . Good thought out comments that one would want to respond to positively

Posting at this point is not essential . Some say you should post every day . My thought on this is to sacrifice quantity for quality . You will be better served to post every other day with better post then every day with a less quality post .

Goals

Your first goal should be to reach the 500 SP mark .
The reason for this is that around 500 SP or so you will get the slider option . This in turn will allow you to increase your engagement with votes . You should already be engaging with others at your maximum level . By providing more votes to others builds your foundation plus helps others in the community to do the same

What is steemit

Steemit first and foremost is a community . As with any community that you live in or travel to , You need to learn the laws , the rules , The customs of the people . If not you could be looking at fines or even jail time . So learn the laws , Rules and customs of the Steemit community . Decide whether you want to become a member or just a tourist .

Members get involved and have stake (SP) in their communities . They work and share in the community . They vote (Witness) and improve , build their lives and family in the community

Tourist are short term visitors who come to town for their pleasure . They do not care whether the community prospers or folds up next year . They are there for their self interest . They will power down at every turn and not reinvest in their stake . They have no stake except what they can get out of it . They beg for votes and restreem as a tourist bother the locals with their trash and carefree in the now attitude .

Investing in Steemit as a Redfish . You came in here with nothing . Your bandwidth was given to you in SP . So how do you get to 500 SP. On average what I have gotten it takes around 9 months depending on Steem prices to reach 500 SP without powering down or any feit powerup ( @paulag can correct me if I am wrong ) So That's the numbers Make up your mind why you are here and for how long . Also look at how you are getting to 500 SP without putting your money into it . The people of the community give it to you . Ain't that some shit !!!!!

Why Should they give it to you There is the 1000 dollar question . Why should they indeed ? Are you a productive member of the community ? Maybe your a whale chaser . Seen some Youtube video That a snake oil salesperson said it's easy . No work involved or required . You should ask yourself WHY everyday !

Things are going to change here. Are you ready , prepared . A member of a community here . Time will tell . You came here at a good time but the clock is ticking . Will your future be set and secure moving forward or in 9 months will you still be in the same spot you are in now ?

My thinking and thoughts

IMO goal #1 should be to earn enough SBD to lease the 500SP to get their sliderbar. Or better yet invest some money into yourself and the greatly increase your chances of success.

Right now with the falling price it's the perfect time to pick up some steem. Adding even an extra $50 can make your experience a whole lot better as that would be enough to lease some SP for a longer lease term. Plus still put some towards powering up.

Then get into some good contests that give away SBD and/or SteemBasicIncome shares.

Great setting out of the basics that are the foundation to success here on Steemit, @wolfhart.

This honesty about time is so important too so that peeps understand the need to invest time, energy... and money if at all possible.

Thank you.!

any investment of money will shorten the time . even if it's a small amounts consistently over time

Now this is what I'm talking about! Thank you for spreading the word :)

@wolfhart, I should have known!!! I have not slept through a bombardment, but I've slept through a ruckus that would wake a "normal" human being haha

I should have read the fine print...of course you are no dummy!😅

of course you are no dummy!😅

That would totally depend on who you ask😆

😆
(I've never before given an emoji as a comment; although it is an appropriate response to our nonsense, what do you think about it? How does it appear to others I mean?)

@lynncoyle1 good I have been using the heck out of them . I made a comment in the league post about self voting and redfish . If you can look at it and let me know how you feel about it . (your opinion)

For those who might be aware of steemit hierarchy:

Whale: > 1 billion vests
Orca: between hundred million and 1 billion vests
Dolphin: between ten million and hundred million vests
Minnow: between one million and ten million vests
Red Fish: between 0 and one million vests

Man this post is a gem for newbies. I have been here since 6th Jan'18 and yet I am newbie - because there is so much to learn. But there are somethings that are absolutely necessary to learn early on.

@wolfhart check out these two posts I wrote this month:

  1. 'Getting To Know Steemit - By Commenting on it'
  2. 'The Red Fish – Not Even a Minnow!'

Theses posts are similar to yours in someways and I would love to have your feedback on them.

@hashcash thanks for your short breakdown - You're the first one who made this clear to me :) I'm here since around 3 weeks. And gosh it's a jungle, the longer I'm here, the more I realise there is to learn.

@wolfhart,thanks for the post, it's such great value!

Glad to be of help man!

You have just learned the most important lesson that you will ever learn about steemit .

the more I realise there is to learn.

learn all there is to know about the platform . its work but the reward could be life changing

entering the vast sea now... thanks!

@sams-world 👍 you keep going and you will be fine !

LMAO really like the dead fish - redfish

here a breakdown for the minnows

1 MV = Superuser = Minnow
0.1 MV = User = Minnow ****
0.01 MV = Newbie = Plankton

So glad that you read the post!
The breakdown for minnows is new to me, thanks :D

Nice article dear @wolfhart

I almost just bypassed this comment but then I saw your comments when I went to your blog . I see you are working on making your comments better where they want to make the poster engage with your comment. an area that I am working on also :)

Thanks for your Support.

Its cool #fastreply nice Service which is created by @roxane.

have you been using it

Great post for a newbie about the system that steemit works on and how to progress.

@shaheerbari your welcome . thank you for joining the Pay It Forward Discord

9 months is a realist time frame. I grew a lot faster, But I came to steemit as an existing blogger. People have to put the effort in. if there is no market on steemit for your content, then create one. it is not a case of just write and the people of steemit will read it.

@paulag I was hoping that the 9 months was correct . Some will do it faster some longer . We all bring different skill sets . The expectation is what I feel is critical . A lot of newbies are under the impression that it's easy and fast . From the Youtube post and the trending page along with that there are whales falling over themself seeking posts to upvote and make you a millionaire . We all heard the BS . So why would one not have unrealistic expectation .
Thanks for clarifying the nine months

Top advice, and a good comparison with tourists vs residents. I hadn't thought of it like that. I will eventually reach 500SP, but I keep delegating out again... Some for community support, and some for personal growth. I don't have much time to reply to comments and upvote a lot personally, so my SP is wasted sitting around doing nothing...So, delegation and curation trails!

@bengy We all have to look at our own situation and and come up with the best plan to move forward . What will work for one might not work for another . You are a member of a couple communities and give there also 👍
