GAME ON!

@archdruid, @curie, @veryspider and @elfranz... Here's my 1st entry (two more are coming soon) to the CONTEST.

IMDb

Remembering Childhood.

Of the games that were part of my childhood, this is one of those that can't be forgotten... Simply - if I were to say it in a nutshell -became timeless! They have been countless hours controlling this hedgehog for the most different dangers and venturing myself into a new world of video game.

I've always seen Sonic as a racing game unlike anything I'd ever known and played until then (I mean, it wasn't the simple race between cars or motorcycles, for example), and that's probably why I consider it as something innovative within its scope.

No doubt, by the time I played it, it caught my attention.

IMDb

The Begining: The True Behing the Game.

Produced by Sonic Team and published in 1991 by Sega (for Sega Games), the game puts the player in the shoes of a strangely unusual creature: a bluish anthropomorphic sea urchin named Sonic where his main job is to reach out to a mad scientist (Dr. Robotnik) who imprisoned animals in robots and stole the much-desired emeralds of chaos in order to control specific powers and thereby achieve their goal of dominating the world.

Being influenced by the series of games Super Mario Bros., the gameplay of Sonic makes it possible for the player to run through a curved sliding scene (side scrolling or lateral), where the obstacles appear before high and low reliefs. Bridges and abysses also make parts of the scenarios that need to be overcome, as well as the strange creatures along it that are an even greater obstacle (besides having to collect gold coins for as a "fuel").

Knowing the Game a Little Bit More.

Super speed is not the only way that Sonic finds himself to be able to move (and also to defend himself, since his main attack is to curl up and stay like a ball, spinning quickly through rotating movements to create a blow of destruction ) ... Springs, high falls, vertical loops and slopes are along the stages and serve as extra options to reach places with more complicated accessibility.

These modes of travel are essential, because as the game is divided into six zones (Green Hill, Marble, Spring Yard, Labyrinth, Star Light and Scrap Brain) and each one has peculiar geographies, the obstacles present themselves in different ways. So without these shifting shifts, the pace of the game would be very weak and uninteresting.

IMDb

Visually Interesting and Well Produced.

The scenarios that make up the game are very diverse and in a way, they are disconnected because they do not follow any pattern... However, this does not make the game less interesting because the pace in which the challenges are happening leave the players well occupied to Pay attention to it, haha! But in any case, places have creative formations (making the game - one way or another - visually appealing).

This dynamism during all phases of the game guarantees a great entertainment for those who are willing to play it, because as the narrative always makes a point of renewing, there is a need to overcome the challenges to be able to experience completely different situations in each one of the phases.

Game Fabrique

A Worm Welcome.

When the game was released, the critics highly praised it and some critics especially considered it as one of the best games ever made. Of course, this guaranteed an above-average sales of units on the market, and with almost immediate success, turning the game into a series was only a matter of time.

In addition to the gameplay that presented a novelty (and that later would win different versions), the other technical questions like "audio" (including the soundtrack composed by Masato Nakamura, "visual effects" drew attention by sensitivity. Nakamura was very careful with regard to the production of the game, retaining it in a general way, making it then, in an experience commensurate with its movements and actions.

Alvanista

Worldwide Fame.

As the game became incredibly popular, it didn't take long for its fame to spread and it became part of the world popular culture. The examples of this are the most diverse, as you can see in the following images. Among them: cosplay, tattoo, graphite, toys, comic books and clothes.

Plus, there is a movie that will be released soon, but so far the fans have rejected the idea because what they did with the character when portraying him in the "real world" was something very badly done... As you can see the result in this trailer:

Sonic is a game that puts the race in a differentiated way (after all, there are not any types of cars, motorcycles or bicycles here) and puts some of the best elements of action and adventure in order to establish a well thought out mix to create a new world where the players find themselves in a completely different situation than the trivial one that already known until then.
