The Final 100 - On My Way to be a Minnow, Next Steps and What I'm Doing to Promote STEEM

This week I broke the 400 SP mark and I'm on the final stretch towards reaching that 500 SP milestone and becoming a minnow!

I have enjoyed this journey and getting to know the community here on STEEM. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow past the 500 SP mark and continue to be a part of this awesome community.

I also want to again say thank you to everyone that has helped me grow my account. I really appreciate all the support I have been given and without you all I would not have reached this point.

So once I become a minnow what then?

Next Steps Past 500 SP

My son taking some early steps. The first steps were small but now he just runs!

My ultimate goal is to reach 10k SP and then hold around there. Until I reach that point I don't plan to powerdown. Even once I reach that goal I would only powerdown to 10k SP and not below it.

So that means that in a lot of ways after I reach 500 SP not much will change. I got a very long way to go until I reach 10k SP so I will just keep trying to put out good content, engage with the community here, and continue to grow.

But I do have some new initiatives I want to share.

One I already started is becoming a contributor to the @homesteaderscoop. I already wrote my introduction post and I will have my first article up in early May.

I'm excited to be writing 1 or 2 posts for the Homesteaders Co-op each month. I think this will be a great way to contribute to the homesteading community and reach more people which will also help my account grow. Hopefully people will find these posts useful--the posts will focus on homesteading and business tips.

Another new initiative that I'm going to start is a weekly contest around homesteading, gardening with SBI units as the prize. Currently, every Tuesday I share what I was up to on my homestead over the previous weekend.

Once I reach 500 SP I'm going to start asking you all to share what gardening/homesteading tasks you did over the weekend. The following Tuesday I will pick 1 person that I thought did something really awesome and give them a SBI unit.

I think this will help me engage with more homesteaders and gardeners and will also help us grow together.

I may increase either the amount of SBI units and/or the number of people that can win each week as my account keeps growing.

My final new initiative is to start delegating SP to projects or individuals that I think are awesome. At first this will be fairly small but I hope to increase it overtime. I'm considering every month delegating a certain percentage of the SP I earned during that month. Not sure what the percent will be yet.

This would not directly help my account grow but is instead meant to help the community grow which will indirectly help my account grow.

I really feel that taking on these types of initiatives is part of what it means to grow and mature on STEEM. At the moment I have been focused on reaching 500 SP but I want to step back after I reach that goal and start giving back more than I have been to the community that has supported me so much.

Promoting STEEM

One way I have been able to give back to the STEEM community is to help promote STEEM to my broader audience.

If you follow me you know that I post a weekend homesteading report and an end week homesteading report each week. These posts get shared on my business facebook and twitter feeds.

As you can see from the picture despite my business still being relatively small my posts are getting some good engagement which means every week some of my audience is getting a chance to experience steemit or steempeak.

I have also setup my business website to have steemit icons next to the other social media icons. This means that on most of my pages and all of my blog posts there are links back to steemit.

While this is not a huge thing to do to promote STEEM I'm hoping that it is helping expose more people to STEEM. If we all shared content from STEEM on the other platforms that would help normalize STEEM and potentially get more people interested in joining us.

Thanks again to everyone that has helped me to grow to 400 SP and I really appreciate any future support as I grow to that 500 SP mark.

I'm going to keep doing what I have been doing--5 weekly posts and engaging with you all as much as I can through comments, replies and upvotes.

My little girl will be born sometime in early May so I have a goal of reach 500 SP before she is born. It feels like this is not likely but it would be awesome to reach that goal and then relax a bit when my little girl is born.

But even if I don't meet that goal I know that I will reach 500 SP before long. I have really enjoyed the journey so far here on STEEM and I'm excited to continue to grow with you all.
