QUEEN ANNE'S LACE

This ball is hiding something inside. When summer arrives, you'll be quite surprised.

This ball is a haven for many seeds to reside; all have dried.

When summer arrived, the seeds were all ripe; without contrite.

This ball opened flat, and there they all sat.

Delicate lace flowers, on top of their stem towers.

Queen Anne was quite the delicate lace maker, they say.

These clusters of lace are delicate too, in their own way.

When the flowers disappeared, they did not fall.

Into seeds they became, it's natures call.

The seeds are again, encased and embraced.

Nature's cycle begins anew for the lace, at a very slow pace.

It's a long wait for summer...what a bummer!

I've always enjoyed Queen Ann's Lace. Did you know Queen Ann's Lace is a wild carrot? I thought you might like that bit of information, here's some more info on it: http://www.carrotmuseum.co.uk/wild.html . Apparently if you pull it up and crush the root, it should smell like carrots! <3

No, I didn't know that. You are always full of so much information and I sure do learn a lot from you. Thanks for the link; it sure was an interesting read. : )

I only learned that sometime last year! It’s crazy to think about how we have taken wild plants and made them into the edibles that they are today!

Great shots, Deb with an equally amazing poem. I'm not familiar with this plant, but it's indeed beautiful. Anyway, hang in there.. SUmmer will be there.. hihihi ^^ hugs

Thanks so much Shei! Yes, it is beautiful; before and after blooming.
I am hanging on by a thread, waiting for spring and especially summer. : )

It'll come soon... :) hihihi ^^ Really~ would love to see it in person... <3

I like reading poems others write, that have to do with nature. :-) Plus they are very pretty flowers.

Thanks so much my friend. Nature never ceases to amaze me...kind of like freewrites. HaHa! : )

You are the best.

No...you are! Especially with all of your kitties. : )
