The Japanese restaurant in Carlton called 'Sushi Honpo' is very well-liked by the locals in this area. We frequently dine at this restaurant when wanting some decent Japanese food that isn't going to break our pockets. This is the assorted sushi set which came with our main meal.

We love Sushi too and we know what you mean about breaking the bank. It can be super expensive and we feel more so in Thailand than what we had in England. However, it could be down to the quality of fish. In Thailand, there is quite a demand for the fish to be flown in from Japan daily. We'll stick with the lower quality fish/more vegetable/egg type sushi.
Learnt something new! Never knew that Thailand imported fish from Japan. It's no wonder sushi is expensive there.
There you go, you learnt something new today! But it's not all the sushi restaurants, but most. There's actually quite a few Japanese expats/retirees living in Thailand - therefore a demand as well as a trend in Thailand for anything Korean or Japanese. Thais often look up to these cultures and want to emulate them. J and K Pop is big here. Anyway, going off the topic. Sushi is expensive here ;)
