Dpoll 26: Are the most active Steemians all ill?

Is it coincidence or?

If you know me you know I am not the healthiest person around.
There are things I can do, things I can do again and some things I can not do.
I lie if I say you get used to it. It is what doctors tell you "get used to it" or "learn to live with it."

I cannot help noticing that many of the active Steemians I know suffer from one or more (serious) diseases.
Is this a coincidence?
Do sick people have more time to invest in Steem as other Steemians?
Are they more motivated to make this platform work?
I will not ask you if you are ill but if you believe the most active Steemians are ill.

Based on people I interact with most at Steemit, I'd say a very large number of Steemians suffer some kind of chronic illness - and that may be what allows them to find time at a computer. They (we) are not out climbing mountains, running marathons, plowing fields - we adopt hobbies that do not require that much mobility. Writers for centuries kept dying of tuberculosis, and now Steemians seem to be a community with a disproportionately large number of people with chronic health conditions. It's a no-brainer, if you ask me, a foregone conclusion, no need to even collect statistics - but math and accuracy were never my strong point. Sweeping generalizations, yes.
Now, a generation of gamers and computer geeks (no connection to Steemit required for this theory) may have become physically less fit due to their interest in spending hours and days on end at the computer, instead of getting outside to run like the wind and swim and get fit.

@carolkean Thank you for your vote. I assume it plays a big role (who knows age too).
!trdo for you ❤️

I have multiple disabilities, and because of this I have more free time than the average/healthy people (nowadays I work in a 4 hours part-time job), but I do not know whether the most active Steemians are ill or not. They (we) certainly have more time to invest than the average/healthy people.

I do not have statistics, but yes, some of thesteemers I am friends with are very ill with chronic diseases. I think internet work is something that can be done in this circumstances, and so this is why we are here. Working 9-5 is not possible and so we try this.

Good point. Can it be age related too?
