Bread meals (En) / Brotmahlzeit (D)

In the Netherlands it is common to have two bread meals.

Breakfast is one of them and the last meal of the day was one of them too. I say was since many eat their home-cooked meal at the end of the day now instead of at noon.
At noon (what many of you call lunchtime) is more healthy. More hours to digest and get rid of the extra calories you stuffed yourself with.

We always eat bread -slices of it - with something on it
First, it's butter and next, it is "beleg" (spreads).
This can be anything but most famous with us are the chocolate sprinkles, peanut butter, cheese, chocolate spread, and meat products bought in slices (ham for instance) or liver sausage. This all mentioned comes in different flavors.

The only time I saw radish show up in my childhood was on bread.
It was eaten in small slices and salt was sprinkled on it. Already as a child I liked the taste.
Once I put the seeds in my garden but it was not successful. It grew but partly above the ground and the rest was stuck into the ground that was as hard as stone. I gave up planting them. The benefits are not worth the time and work I have from it. It is not cheap here and in those rare occasions I like to eat them I buy a bunch in the shop cleaned already. I eat them at once in most cases there are only 5-7.

In den Niederlanden wird normalerweise zweimal Brot gegessen.

Das Frühstück ist eine Brotmahlzeit und das Abendessen auch. Das war mal, am Ende des Tages wird jetzt meistens gekocht statt am Mittag.
Warmes Essen als Lunch (wie viele das Mittagessen nennen) ist aber gesünder. Mehr Stunden, um die zusätzlichen Kalorien, den man heruntergeschluckt hat zu verdauen und loszuwerden.

Bei uns heißt Brot Brotschnitten mit etwas drauf.
Zuerst Butter und dann ist es "beleg" (Aufstriche). Die beliebsten sind: Schokostreusel, Erdnussbutter, Käse, Schokoladenaufstrich (wir nennen das Pasta) und Fleischprodukte, die in Scheiben (zum Beispiel Schinken) oder Leberwurst gekauft werden und alles in verschiedenen Geschmacksrichtungen.

Das einzige Mal, dass ich Radieschen sah als Kind, war aufs Brot.
Es wurde in kleinen Scheiben gegessen und mit Salz bestreut. Schon als Kind hat mir der Geschmack gefallen.

Einmal legte ich die Samen in meinen Garten, aber es war nicht erfolgreich. Es wuchs schon aber teilweise aus dem Boden heraus und der Rest steckte in dem steinharten Boden fest. Ich habe es aufgegeben, sie zu pflanzen. Die Vorteile sind die Zeit und die Arbeit, die ich daraus habe, nicht wert. Radieschen sind nicht billig und in den seltenen Fällen, in denen ich sie gerne esse, kaufe ich ein paar schon gereinigte im Laden. Ich esse sie sofort, in den meisten Fällen gibt es nur 5-7 Stück.

I don't quite know why, but radish is not on the menu at my house. I did my story with the radish as an indication, taking as a reference the black radish which, according to my research, has a stronger taste and may be an allergen.

In Germany, we also used to eat bread for breakfast and dinner. Such good bread. My mouth still waters thinking about it :)

@mariannewest Your bread is different? Some say it is because we have lazy housewives not willing to cook. I think by now there are no longer housewives..They all work.
