Under Construction : 3D Modeling A Music Pavilion
Fellow Steemians, here is a music pavilion design in progress. The geometry is being modeled in 3D and drawn with 2D linework using the software “Rhinoceros” (screen-shots below.) It’s a symmetrical composition based on an octagonal plan with a performance stage accessible and visible from all directions. This design is ideal for a public setting like a park or plaza where events could be hosted and performances can be most visible.
The idea for a pavilion was submitted by @transhuman, who requested that STEEMTOWN include a wide scope of music venues to reflect the range of musicians and musical interests within the Steemit community. “A classical concert hall, jazz club, music in the round, specially designed megarock concert stadium etc.” As the STEEMTOWN project continues to develop and grow, this pavilion may be replaced with a larger venue!
Here are a few snapshots of the pavilion in progress...
Here is the near-final rendering below...
What’s STEEMTOWN?
STEEMTOWN is an ongoing community art project powered through your comments and ideas. Each week, a new phase of buildings will be added to the Town derived from the photographs, quotes, stories and feedback. For more, here is a link to the introductory post and project mission.
An Exercise in Building Community
Through this project - I hope to engage in a broader dialogue with fellow Steemians about their own sense of place and placemaking. These types of game-structured conversations are a fascinating way of learning more about what a person defines as his or her “community.” It’s a way of us connecting to one another through the geographies we are deeply tied to and knowledgeable of. In a world of links, likes, upvotes and IP addresses, it’s exciting to find ways of bridging the digital divide and connecting with those on the other side of the screen.
Stay tuned for Phase 2 of STEEMTOWN later this week…
I like the design for the pavilion in progress. Eliminating barriers between the performers and the audience is a definite improvement in light of modern day performance standards. I don't know why 19th and 20th century pavilions had fences obscuring the performers. The objective is to connect the performing artist with the audience.
Absolutely! Glad you like the design in progress... I agree about the transparency of performing artist and audience, this example will surely be an immersive one. Thanks again for the great idea!
Hi @transhuman, check it out in the latest update! - https://steemit.com/art/@voronoi/steemtown-v-2-a-community-art-experiment-in-city-making
