That’s just my luck!

Two days! Two days late since the snow fell and those two fucking degrees that everybody’s talking when “global warming” comes into discussion, have caused a damn musoon in Poiana Brașov.
Like a good kid waiting for Santa, I’ve unpacked my brand new boots, I’ve waxed my board and prepared EVERYTHING else since last night. So we can leave early in the morning and catch that great snow I’ve seen posted on facebook.
I’ve parked the damn car while my wipers were going full speed, that’s how bad it was raining. 50 meters away from the car and on the way to the cable car and my jacket is soaking wet already. Only when I’m remembering I get chills. And the “pow pow” day didn’t even started. I’m telling you: I’ve never been so wet while going on the slope. Never came back from the slope so wet either. Maybe back in the ‘90s when I was going for a ride in a sweater and a pair of jeans.
I’ve bought the point cards for the cable car in water and moisty snow up to my ankles. It was a disaster.
Thankfully from the “waist” up the slope was in pristine condition and the shitty rain turned to miraculous snow. Superb snow.

We stopped and hanged for a hot wine and a delicious, home made bownie and forgot about the bad weather, 4 kilometers in the valley. It’s incredible how a wintery, snowy landscape can tranform the feelings of a human being. As the cable car was going firther and snow, in abbundance, was starting to show up, my mind seemed to empty itself of everything.

This wooden cabin dates back to the end of the 18th Century and is a central piece in the history of exploration and accomodation within the Carpathian Mountains. And they make some daaaaamn good cookies and food generally.

Of course it’s hard to land in the shit pit, down at bottom but I guess these 3-4 hours of frozen bliss will stand for more than that this little downside.
