Fishpen: Another kind of fishing

When we were driving to Eastern Samar, Philippines we saw this structure under the bridge. This is called a fishpen.

A fisherman can grow different kinds of fish in a fishpen. When the fish is big enough, the fishermen can now sell it to different wet markets. This is the usually process of having a fishpen.

We asked the owner about what kind of fishes do they grow here and they said that it was bangus or milkfish which is the national fish of the Philippines. They also said that growing fish is hard but enjoyable specially if it is harvesting time.

It was nice to see the fishpen itself but it was also nice to see the view behind the fishpen, an open sea between islands.

This shows that there are new and beautiful things outside the house so let's go out and travel to different places. 😊
