My journey from 2D to 3D - part 2 "The beer project"
As I wrote in my first post I did start Blender in january 2018 to learn something completely unknown to challenge myself. After I had finished my first blender tutorial (the famous donut tutorial ;)) ) I tried another one from blenderguru, this time "how to make a beer" https://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/make-beer-blender?rq=beer to learn about glass material and how to create a liquid inside, that has bubbles and foam on top.
To repeat the things I did learn I tried my first "own" project and I did set as a goal to create a "Flensburger" - a german beer - to make a good friend of mine happy who love this more than everything else.
The tutorial beer
Following a tutorial is one thing, to create something on your own you have to find your own ways. The first problem I faced was the Flensburger logo on the glass, but this could be solved relatively easy with a png after a little investigation about materials. Glass ok, decal ok, background and the liquid and the bubbles not that problem cause I learned it earlier, but the foam material with bubbles!
one of my bubble tests
I tried for days to find a satisfying solution - with particle systems, bubbles with a double wall to get the right reflections, I even did follow some abstruse suggestions using physics and try to let bubbles fall on my foam and then shrink them with a shrink wrap mod......... I did read everything I could find but didn´t come to a solution, maybe I read the wrong stuff, so I finished it within my possiblities.
Cheers!
