How to @Steemit | Sabah Steemian Workshop

Last week we had a back to back Sabah Steemian gathering/meetups at two different location. One is at City Mall, Kota Kinabalu while the other is at Tamparuli Living Art Centre (TaLAC). Please do check my earlier post below that I wrote about these two events.

Tonight's meetup is our 1st Steemit workshop for our fellow Sabahan steemian. The main purpose of this workshop is to help the newly registered steemian to learn basic of using steemit and to the unregistered (yet), why they should start steeming.

Steemit is a platform where authors are rewarded for posting content, commenting, voting and curating the content made by other steemians. If my understanding is right, when I post something, I'll get 75% rewards as the author while the remaining 25% will be distributed equally to my voters and commenters. There are so many interesting topic that I wanted to write about Steemit; voting strength and commenting to name a few. But that's gonna take forever to explain it here. Needless to say, gatherings and workshop is a good place to gain that valuable knowledge of steemit ... among others.

Now, steemit can be very addictive. None of the social media platform out there (that I knew of) rewards me for my posts, my comments or even when I shared (here we called it resteemed) other posts.

When I started my journey on Steemit, I couldn't digest the idea of monetary gratification. Hell, I don't even know what to write my first post. My next post after my introductory is about my eyebrows (yes, I know it's pathetic 😂) and I remembered getting .27 cents as the author. But it didn't stop me. Then, I wrote about my feline friend which I've gained 9 steem as the author. Not bad eh 😄.

What I'm trying to say is, being on Steemit, one doesn't have to be a good writer (although you need a good post to get upvotes). There are times when people reprimanded your grammar. I know it can be frustrating and discouraging but look on the bright side. That person's actually read your post! Say thank you and move on.

You also need to be interactive with other fellow steemians and most importantly, have fun while writing your post. If you're happy while producing one good post, others might think the same when they read it. Just my 2 steem cents opinion. LOL.

So, did I met my aims from this workshop?

I absolutely did! It gives me an access to a mentor, adopt new skills, gain new experiences and the best part ... meet new people. Awesome!
