Into the Great Wide Open!
Finally, it was Friday! But wait, why are all those beautiful clouds, something we hardly ever see in Southern California, disappearing before my eyes? It was true. The week had been quite cold for these parts and the sky was peppered with all manner of clouds. That is something that gets a photographers' heart pounding.
Then it happened. The clouds just went away. So, I put the gear in the car and headed for the beach anyway, hoping to find some inspiration. Maybe the clouds would have made it too easy. Instead I had to work hard to visualize something different from that same old sun going down into the sea thing I had composed so many times before.
The result has me singing my favorite Tom Petty song as I prepare to send the file out to the printer. This one can't wait or be forgotten!

Beautiful image, love the flow of that slow shutter speed! Keep it up!
Thanks very much Cam! This session only lasted about 5 minutes like this but I got so many different feeling pics with just different angles and different water movement its nuts. I just got this one back from the printer today on metal and it really works!
Great to hear! Ooo metal. Yep this would have came out real nice with metal.

Beauty! Way to stick with it, clouds or no clouds. :)
Thanks Derek! I've been in a rut of over filtering shots. So lightened up and went for much shorter shutters 1/2 to 1.5 secs this time. I always try to do it differently than the last time out if I can
Good choice for this subject - the defined shape and texture of the backflow are working well here!
