Lucy - A Myth

in #lucy7 years ago

Lucy is a Science Fiction movie.I say that again because most people get carried away by the action sequences that they just fail to see the "Fiction Part"
Let me jot down the inaccuracies first. image

Myth #1:

Humans only make use of 10% of their cerebral capacity.

Myth #2:

CPH4 doesn't work the way its showcased in the movie.

1.Studies of brain damage: If 90% of the brain is normally unused, then damage to these areas should not impair performance. Instead, there is almost no area of the brain that can be damaged without loss of abilities. Even slight damage to small areas of the brain can have profound effects.

2.Brain scans have shown that no matter what one is doing, brains are always active. Some areas are more active at any one time than others, but barring brain damage, there is no part of the brain that is absolutely not functioning.
3.The brain has distinct regions for different kinds of information processing. Decades of research have gone into mapping functions onto areas of the brain, and no function-less areas have been found.
4.CPH4 is a name that Benson (the director) invented, but it’s a molecule that the pregnant woman is making it after six weeks of pregnancy in very, very tiny quantities. But it’s extremely over exaggerated. And it doesn't work the way its showcased in the movie.

Overall.
Lucy is a movie that connects these two myths for entertainment purpose.
