The year 2019

in #blog4 years ago

The past year was an eventful year. Although everything at work has remained unchanged, a lot has happened privately. This post shows 2019 in image and text :)

It is a tradition to bake oil dumplings every year with my father-in-law. Oliebollen are a Dutch delicacy. The children always light fireworks at the door of my parents-in-law and it is always very nice. A little drink, fun and donuts :). The whole family always comes by to get oliebollen.

This year was also the year we made a big step in our lifes. We moved, after 18 years, from our house in Zutphen to our new home in Vorden. And like any new house, we had to choose a lot of stuf for our new home. a bathroom, kitchen etc. And the funny thing is, I really don't like shopping... And my wife knows it... But this time it was different, we visited a lot of stores and we had a great time.

Together with my brother I play in a band, and in january 2019 was our first gig together. We had a lot of fun. The 11th of january we have our second, at the same venue :)

My son had a great play at his school. I always love to see my kids growing and doing things... This play was awesome, he did a fine job...

My oldest son got his first real job (besides school). working at the local grocery store filling up empty spaces in the racks. He did it only for three months or so, then he got another job at a diner here in our new hometown. Where he has a lot of fun..

We went to a ski holiday together with our dearest friends. For the first time (with them). This year we are going again with them, we had a lot of fun...we are going again to austria, same place, same hotel...

With all people in the bus on our way to austria :)

On the way back, everybody was exhausted :)

This year I went twice to a concert of Matt Andersen, together with my good friend Rien....
The first was in Utrecht... We were front row and had a great time.....What a singer..

Then we got the key of our new home.... There was a lot that had to be done... We have really torn the place down (almost) and started to rebuild it...

The old kitchen was all worn out and broken, so my father in law demolished it very professional :)

There was a lot of debris to be taken care of..... Never knew it was that expensive to get rid of your debris..

The old bathroom wasn't safe neither :)

After all the demolition the rebuilding started. We had a lot of friends in the right profession who could help us out...and they did... I love them for that and more..

This year our oldest son went on a trip to Malta for a internship at a soccer club. First time he traveled alone... I must confess , quiet hard as a parent to let him go... :)

And there he was.....our youngest baby.... our new born puppy "Bassie". He is a great golden retriever, a true welcome new family member. Our youngest son always wanted a dog after we had put our labrador Ozzy to rest... We never gave in to it, but in our new home we have much more space and we are real dog people, so my wife and I decided to get Bassie as a new family member... And boy, what a great dog he is...

Things were beginning to look great again in our new home. The workmen were doing great work and you started to see some progress..

The new kitchen arrived..

the wood for our cabine behind the house.

The heatpump got installed (we are of gass)

The cabine is one of my favorite things in the new house :) A place for the kids to hang out with friends, for me to have a beer with friends... just awesome..

Finally we could pick up Bassie from the breeder. He was 8 weeks old and we welcomed him into our house and lifes...
And be honest, isn;t he a cuty?

While being busy with the house and stuff disaster striked for me... I was diagnosed with Skin cancer, level 2. Never thought of something like that hitting me or my family. At first I was quiet positive about it, "there is nothing wrong we can't manage'... and stuff like that. but I was thinking on the other side "a lot of people won;t think it will strike them but it did, why am I any different"... I must confess.... I was scared, scared to not be able to see all the great things my kids still have to experience.... Live the great live in our new house.... Strange things go trough your mind....

Finally I had surgery and they removed the piece of skin with the melonomy and a gland in my arm pit for further investigation.

The results were good, there was no spreading of cancer...so I was relieved big time....something you can't imagine...
I can look into the future again, to have a great life with my wife and kids....

Music is a big part of my life... So I have played and watched a lot of music this year.... It's a life vain :)

We now enjoying our new home looking back on a rumorous year but looking positive to 2020...

I whish all my Steemit friends a great and healthy, musical 2020....

Thank you for being a part in my steemit journey...
