एक मन्दिर में अन्धा साधू रहता था जो भिक्षा मांगकर अपना
गुजारा चलाता था। भोजन के समय कहता हे भगवान लगाना भोग।
एक दिन एक बिल्ली आ गयी और थाली में से रोटी लेकर भाग गयी।
अन्धे साधू ने सोचा कि भगवान आ गये और थाली में से रोटी लेकर
भाग गये। इसीलिए तो कहते हैं कि ‘सूरदास के श्याम ' हमेशा
भोजन लाकर ऊपर थोड़ा मक्खन रखकर कहता है कि आ मेरे श्याम
लगा जा । बिल्ली आकर रोटी ले जाती। सूरदास बड़ा प्रसन्न
भोग
रहता।
एक दिन किसी भक्त ने कहा कि मुझे भी भगवान के दर्शन
करावें ऐसा ही गुरु करना है। सूरदास ने कहा कि इस संसार में सब
पाखण्ड है भगवान तो केवल सूरदास के पास ही आते है। मेरे पास
रोज आते है मक्खन रोटी खाते हैं, कल भेंट पूजा लेकर मेरे पास आ
जाना।
