No inspiration to write...

Have you ever woken up and gotten ready for work, but as you sat down in front of your computer to write, you simply didn't feel any inspiration. I know a blogger cannot be compared to a painter, but still - I can easily imagine that the struggle and the need for new inspiration might be quite similar to both of them.

Today, I woke up and I had a nice morning. But, as I sat down in front of my computer ready to write some articles and produce some how-to guides on different topics, I simply had a hard time finding out what to actually write about. It might be a problem with me, or it might be the fact that this is "such a day." I don't really know, but I guess a challenge for most of us is what to do about such days? Yesterday, I didn't work at all, simply because I had a nice family day, and thus I am already one day behind with work this week. That makes it even worse. So again, what to do about this?

What helps me on those "no-inspiration" days?

Luckily, I do have tasks that I know needs to be done. And I have a book that I use to write notes about tasks I need to do, articles I need to write, how-to videos on YouTube that I want to produce and so much more. On some days, I do not even get close to this book because I am full of inspiration and I just feel like there isn't enough time in the world for me to write all the content and all the blog posts that I want to write. But, then - on days like the one I am having today, I opened the book and immediately came up with some ideas on work that needs to be done.

And, what I often experience is that once I get started doing some of those tasks, I get in the spirit of work, and the inspiration starts coming, and suddenly, it gets much easier to work and write and produce, once I simply get started. It is almost like with running, the hardest part is to actually get started, but once you are out there, it is getting better and better.

This morning I started with creating a video about the Cricket World Cup 2019 explaining how you can watch the matches online. I have been looking around at many places to find a solution, and it annoys me a lot when I see other VPN sites writing about methods that do not work. In other words, they tell their visitors to buy their service to watch the cricket world cup online, but the fact is that the methods described do not work. For example, someone might recommend their readers to watch the Cricket World Cup on Hotstar in India, but if they would have paid attention in the lesson, they would have known that it is impossible for foreigners without an Indian phone number and payment card to actually sign up for and pay for Hotstar. I had a fix for this in a long time, but since the requirement for an Indian phone number came up, I do not have one anymore. And based on what I see on the websites of the other VPN providers and VPN blogs, they do not have one either. They just recommend Hotstar India as the solution... That makes me kind of annoyed, and I feel sorry for everyone desperate to find a way to stream the matches online, only to discover that it doesn't work. Luckily, the VPN providers all have money-back policies, but it still feels annoying.

That is also why I find it so important to keep all my different articles updated. It might be that what I described a few years ago worked then, but it doesn't anymore. For example, a few days ago someone told me that the instructions on how to watch RTE Ireland abroad don't work anymore. Since then I tried it again and discovered that it truly doesn't work anymore. So, I had to update my article in order to tell my readers that it doesn't work anymore. It might look nicer when saying that I have the solution, but it feels better to be honest with my readers and in that way, also keep the articles updated.

What do you do when you find no inspiration?

It all depends on what topics I want to write about, but going for a walk, eating something, or drinking a Coke and eating a bar of chocolate often helps me. Or, maybe I will go visit some other website dealing with similar topics to see what they are busy writing, or to look for mistakes in their articles that I can present and write about in a better way myself.

But, what do you do when you want to find inspiration? I would love to hear your strategies and methods.
