NIGERIA

in #nigeria7 years ago

Nigeria is distressing.

Almost every single person wants to exercise power to control and mistreat people.

Make someone an ordinary whatsapp group admin, and watch him boss over every other member of the group, like some village chief.

Even the security guard of a commercial bank wants to feed his ego and stomach, by oppressing vulnerable people. Screenshot_20171226-223221.png

Power intoxicates in this part of the world. The average Nigerian is insensate, cruel, and quick to wield arrogance in demand for submission, at any given opportunity.

Take a good look at your environment, almost every person that climbs up the ladder of success, even by a step, wants to exercise power and control over people at his beck and call.

This attitude is everywhere. In the school system, public service, and even in the family. We're not just going through the vicious process previous generations started, we're making it worse.

This is 2018 already. If this country is to be fixed, we all have a collective responsibility to change our mindset and approach towards leadership; because at some point, we'd all lead, either directly or indirectly.

Leadership is service. Leadership is transparency. Leadership is accountability.

Leadership is not tyranny. Leadership is not ruthlessness.

I remember this particular bank security guy that flogged us as freshers who went to Sky Bank to pay acceptance fees into the university in 2009. I still see him working there as a security man while some of those he flogged are now capable of making sure he's sacked from the bank.
Nigerians are too power hungry.

Lol. You can imagine? I pray we fix such mindset.

Good leadership is the key

Exactly my point, thanks.

Power corrupts and absolute power power corrupts absolutely... George Orwell's "Animal Farm" illustrates your point... Nice piece

Exactly bro. Thanks

Wanting power isn't corruption. It is basically human nature. I feel sometimes when dealing with people you just have to true to your word, lay down the rules and enforce it.. Doesn't make you a bad leader.. The only bad i can think of its if you insult others or deny them them theirr right or trample on it. All in all, i get your point.
God bless Nigeria

My point is not about wanting power, or being rigid with your rules. My point is about abusing power and using it to mistreat people under you. All the same, i understand your perspective, and i appreciate your comment.

Really, nigeria is a crazy place to be right now. Lol

I tell you, bro

It would get better than this. We would make Nigeria Great again.

Lol. Nice advice to Nigerians. Thank you for sharing this post brother because some people are power drunk

Thank you for reading, bro
