Creating my first Ikonospace Gallery (Beta)
So I finally got Ikonospace up and running, and even in beta it provides a beautiful, feature filled VR gallery creator. Learn more about it in the trailer.
For an example of the gorgeous spaces that can be created with "Ikonospace Pro", below is a video for an exhibition created of the photographer Norman Seeff's work.
There are other gallery building apps online; but they are not quite as rich, beautiful and usable.
It will also have other uses in the future, as is explained on the Ikonospace website; Check out this video exploring an Ikonospace created environment.
I thought of my first two gallery attempts as fun experiments, starting out with one of the pre-designed galleries "Geneva"
As you can see, the work looks a bit dark, but it still looks very beautiful and real. I hear there may be fixes to the lighting in the next update; so I will return to my "Dark Worlds" gallery then.
There are three views you can use; floor plan; perspective view and ground view. Here is "perspective" view.
And here is "ground" view. You can see how it is darker. Hopefully I can figure out how to get the lights to work soon.
In the meantime I decided to build my own space with natural light. I named it "Ethereal Studio"
The Beta has multiple options for colors and textures; more than other gallery applications I have used and they look much more real. I started by designing a small studio space.
It looked a bit empty so I added a bench. It is a bit crooked now; I will have to fix it. I hope they develope a "snap to" function.
I then tacked on another gallery so I could show more work. I had a bit of trouble drawing the walls and figuring out how to quickly find the selection tool to erase mistakes; but the tools are easy to learn and easy to use.
All in all very impressed and excited about this project; there are a few more issues that need resolving either with updates or with future tutorials. Below is the first tutorial.
I wish I could share my entire VR gallery with you; but until then you can view my post about another gallery creation program, "Artsteps" , and view the first gallery I created for it here
Wow that opens up some really cool possibilities!
Fabulous. It appeaes to look like a normal real art gallery. Perhaps you vould use this as a prototype for the creation of original one.
Thank you, maybe some day. I think I would use a design I spent more time on; only spent two hours on these.
Are ypu serious? Only two hours?
Then the one you spend more than two hours will look exttaordinary.
This is cool - a lot further and better than when I tried something like that years ago. I am up to my ears in fixing websites, so I won't have time anytime soon to try this, but it looks promising!

Thank you so much. I posted about "artsteps" yesterday, have you used that one? It is easier to use, but does not look as good. Ikonospace aims to eventually become a program where people can create enviroments easily that can be viewed with immersive vr glasses, not just galleries. I like the look better than other vr creation engines
This is amazing. I have to check it out, I really think the more immersive visually and digitally we become in the comfort of our homes and travel, art will continue to gain importance in our daily living.
I like how " comfortable"VR is becoming. I notice most technology must be around awhile before can approach it in an intuitive manner. I cannot look at "Second Life" or "The Sims" for to long; but sone of the new Vr experiences and games are engrossing, and sites like "Ikonospace" create a lovely environment that is not dizzying. I hope someday I can afford a headset so I can make VR art in VR.
This is really cool. I'll have to investigate this more never heard of ikonospace
This is so amazing, I must get that working too! I signed up for the beta.
Wow, truly amazing!! You are so innovative and cutting edge with your projects and your art. Sorry, I missed those posts in time...
I was wondering, if you would send me an ETH address for a little sunshine I'd like to give to you. If you are not comfortable here, you can find me on discord under rs77#7243
And yes, I really like your tutorial and the effort you made to make this understandable for others :-)
I've started to play with this - mainly because I'm exploring working more with vr and when i googled i found ikonspace and thought that looks familiar!
