Indigenous People 原住民

During our present time in Taiwan, most of the people we interact with are the indigenous people. In general, most of the people in Taiwan are Chinese. But there is also a sizeable group of indigenous people. According to the demographics, there are sixteen tribes among indigenous people in Taiwan. Each tribe has their own local language.

Owing to the Taiwan educational system, the indigenous people are Mandarin speaking. In a way, the Taiwan government is successful in enabling all, if not, most of the people to be able to use Mandarin. Certainly, this is good for national integration.

Nevertheless, the indigenous people have realised that they can’t afford to lose their own culture. Therefore, there are attempts to help their own indigenous people to utilise the mother tongues and to maintain their culture.

Indeed, it is necessary to foster better communication and understanding among different people groups by having a common language. But it is equally important for different people groups to continue using their own mother tongues. By so doing, the people are able to enrich one another through their diversities.

这次在台湾期间，我们与之互动的大多数人都是原住民。一般来说，台湾的大部分人口是漢人，其他则有不少是原住民。根据人口统计，台湾一共有十六族原住民，而每一族均有自己的语言。

由于台湾的教育制度，原主民基本上都通䁱普通话即中文。在某个程度上，台湾政府已经成功地促使大多数人能够使用中文。当然，这有利于使一个國家或地区一体化。

城如上述，原主民已经意识到他们不能继续失去自己的文化。因此，他们试图促进自己的族羣多使用母语及维护本身的文化。

事实上，有必要通过共同语言促进不同群体之间能更好的沟通。然而不同的群体继续使用自己的母语也同样重要；通过这样做，一个國家或地区的人能够透过他们的多元化相互学习。
