Fire Alarm 火警

We are staying in a hotel, and suddenly there was an alarm. Then, repeatedly we heard the following:

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please, the fire alarm has been activated in the building. We are investigating the situation. Please remain calm and standby for further instruction. Thank you.”

We did wait for further instruction until we were instructed to use the exit to be evacuated from the building. My wife and me joined the rest walking from eleventh floor to the ground floor. And we actually waited outside the building. In the end we went to the lobby. We went back to our room after knowing that it was a false alarm.

Fire alarm is necessary. And it is useless unless we are able to respond accordingly. Therefore, the instruction has to be effectively brought across to the people. However, a false alarm can be frustrating. By all means any alarm system should be improved in terms of its authenticity.

我们住宿在一家酒店，忽然来了一声警报。然后，我们反复听到以下的消息：

“女士们，先生们，请注意，此建筑物的火炎警报已经發动；我们正在调查情况。请保持冷静和等侯进一步指示。谢谢!”

我们确实等到了进一步指示，即被指示使用出口从建筑物撤离。妻子和我一起从第十一层走到一楼，然后我们到了大楼外面等待，後来又跟随其他人回到大厅。结果知道这是一个误报后便回到了我们的房间。

火警是必要的。除非我们懂得做出适当的回应，否则它是无用的。因此，警報员必须将指示有效地传达受影响的人。然而，误报则可能令人沮丧；所以任何警报系统都应该加强其真实性。
