Beach Travelogue: PUERTO GALERA 🌴🌞
Puerto Galera is located in the northwestern most part of Oriental Mindoro and at the southwestern end of the Isla Verde Passage, about 130 kilometers south of Manila, Philippines. It is mainly accessible from Southern Luzon port of Batangas, which is acting as a gateway to the city.
We traveled from Manila to Port of Batangas via bus, from there, we took a RO-RO (roll-on and roll-off) boat with a capacity of 20 to 30 people. Puerto Galera is well known among tourists for its numerous pocket beaches and many snorkeling and scuba diving spots.
We went here to celebrate New Year 2012 with friends. We stayed at Mermaid Hotel for 3 days and 2 nights. The hotel was cozy, clean and the people are very accommodating.
SUMMER TIME, FUN TIME!
waiting for our RO-RO
all aboard!
We got to the island after an hour of boat ride, not bad the waves are not that strong so we manage not to barf LOL. We checked-in and settled in first then we went out to eat dinner.
buttered shrimp and rice for sam.
longganisa, egg and rice for me.
After a nice dinner, we head back to our hotel and take a dip in the hotel pool.
Early in the morning we tour the island. We rode a jeepney going to Tamaraw Falls.
one of the tourist spots in Puerto Galera, Tamaraw Falls wherein you can dip into the fresh cool water that comes from the waterfalls.
roaming around the city
we rented a motorcycle to fully use our time on travelling and reaching those pocket beaches.
so cool :)
Sabang Beach
White Beach
chill time at the beach
love this mudshake.
having some relaxing time walking to the beach.
our dinner that night at Galeon Restaurant, the fresh fish with vinegar is the bomb, so delish as well as the fettuccini alfredo.
Happy New Year! Wow, this is just the photo that I took that night because we really had fun and so tired already.
best part of the morning when you have some leftover pizza! way better to start your day!
and some billiards before we pack up and go home :D
We really had fun. There are more locations and pocket beaches that we didn't see yet but for sure there will always be a next time. The beaches there have a fine sand but not that fine and white as Boracay's as well as the clarity of water but Puerto Galera is famous of their scuba diving areas and I heard it was beautiful. I hope I can try it sometime.
So that's our trip to Puerto Galera, Mindoro Philippines in a nutshell. If you have time and you're in the Philippines try to visit Mindoro to have some relaxing time on the beach and scuba adventures.
Until my next travel! Have an awesome week steemians.
