Renewable Energy Now Accounts for One Third of Global Energy Capacity
One-third of global energy capacity now comes from renewable resources, according to new data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) earlier this week.
The past decade has seen strong growth in renewable energy, a trend that continued in 2018. Most of this growth is driven by solar and wind energy.
IRENA's report shows that all regions of the world are investing in sustainable energy, with Asia accounting for 61% of total new renewable energy installations.
Through its compelling business case, renewable energy has established itself as the technology of choice for new power generation capacity. ~ IRENA Director-General Adnan Z. Amin
