MT. WELLINGTON, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA.

This is my entry for Tuesday's #landscapephotography contest sponsored by @juliank

Mt Wellington, at 1271 metres high towers over the city of Hobart in Tasmania, an Australian island at the base of the country. The mountain provides an impressive backdrop to Hobart and the Derwent river. Before the Pinnacle road was built in 1930 access to the summit was achieved by walking. Today it takes approximately twenty minutes by car to reach the top where the spectacular views are well worth seeing.

The terrain is quite rugged as the mountain is covered with snow during winter and strong gusty winds ensure that only the hardiest of plants or shrubs survive. Mt. Wellington has survived fire, flood, and landslides but the remarkable, panoramic views of the city, river, land and sea guarantee that it will continue to be Hobart’s major tourist attraction.

I like it a lot! Perfect fore- and background!
Did you use some effects on it or is this the raw picture? I wonder how this would look like with a sunset or sunrise.
I would place a watermark on it so the credits go towards you if someone repost it somewhere:)
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you @rhetoric for drawing to my attention the fact that my watermark was too small. I have rectified that now. It is a raw picture and unfortunately ii was an overcast day and we only had limited time in Tasmania. It would have been awesome to capture a sunrise or sunset image from there. I didn't know that having your photos watermarked added value to them. I usually add it but sometimes one or two might slip through the cracks.

No worries but I feel it was a little rude of me for not even looking closely. After your comment I saw the watermark rightaway. But it might be better to make it stick out more a bit.
Yeah that's right bit it's very hard capturing the sunrise at the right moment. Everything has to be perfect weatherwise.
I still enjoy this photo a lot!
It's not really value per se but if someone just copoes the picture he has to do extrawork if he want's ro claim it as his own picture.
Let the credits flow to the right owner:)

Not rude at all . I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. I don’t like my watermark to be too obvious but there’s no point in having one if it can’t be seen. Yes, it’s a pity we cant choose the perfect weather when it suits us. I didn’t think I’d be down that way again so I took some photos anyway.

I'm glad this was not rude! Yeah the watermark should be seen but it obviously should not cover the picture. It's a tightrope walk:)
If it's not visible it might get repostet without knowing and then you would hopefully still get some more users who spot the mark.
True that. This is crucial for nightphotography. Everytime we like to go out of the city the wethear just is way to cloudy.. the right time will come though, I really really hope so!
Of course if it's not on a way you can visit easily then you want to get as much out of the view as possible!
Cheers

Very true @rhetoric I like the authenticity of a watermark also. Tasmania is right at the bottom of Australia and I live up the other end.....not at the top but a very long distance from this mountain. I guess I can be happy it wasn't raining on the day we were able to visit it. I finally got around to posting the first of my graffiti pics if you'd like to view them. They were taken in a Lane named after a popular Australian rock group called AC DC. I was able to use people as props in some of my other graffiti photos which is better than just the walls but they are not with this lot.

It would be nice to be there. Lovely capture Trudee! :)

Thank you @erikah The scenery was fabulous but even though it was summer, it was bitterly cold up there.
