Five Minutes or Less!

Making the Steem blockchain easier to understand is a major goal for many people involved here on the Steem blockchain.

It is of vital importance that we can bring the Steem blockchain to people who have no familiarity with crypto and limited technical knowledge and teach them how to use the various apps of Steem.

Whenever I try to explain the Steem blockchain to a friend or acquaintance, I find myself chasing my own tail.

People simply get confused when they try to understand this place and have no prior knowledge of how crypto works.

It's understandable, Steem is no easy thing to understand.

Explaining Steem in a nutshell is like trying to teach a person rocket science in 10 minutes or less.

There is simply so much information and so many nuances that it is impossible to pin an exact description on this place.

I usually start by saying something along the lines of this:

Steem is a blockchain where anything is possible. There are social media apps and there are video games and there are many different ways to use them and get involved.

You can become a content creator and write blog posts or take photos or vlog or whatever else you want to do and you can share it on various apps such as Appics, DTube, Steemit or Steempeak.

If you have coding knowledge, you can do open-source development and share it on Utopian and be rewarded for your contributions with STEEM.

Or, if you're an entrepreneur, you can bring a team to gather and create an amazing app of your own and launch it on the blockchain.

The possibilities are endless for what you can do on the Steem blockchain. You just have to learn how the fundamentals work and then get started navigating the blockchain by reading posts, writing comments, watching videos, etc.

Using the apps themselves will go a long way in teaching you how the blockchain works!
