Pit Stop
When starting the drive from Solvang to Las Cruces, CA you will approach mountains for the first time in awhile if driving the 1 or 101 South. There seems to be a pass coming up; The Gaviota Pass, followed by the Gaviota Tunnel. Definitely some new terrain approaching compared to most of my travels lately. So before getting into all of this, decided to hop out on the Ortega trails just up the way.
A bit colder here, 46 degrees, but then again it's the middle of September, only a week away from Autumn so it should be an expected cool down especially approaching the mountain range. This push here is in hopes to make it to Santa Barbara in the next week or so, it's no rush, but the tentative plan at this time. Onward!
And yes, the trails were great, a much needed stretch in the cool morning. Had a couple snacks and a cup of coffee. Feel ready to make the push through the pass and tunnel. Always safe travels.
Sometimes you need to just slow down to be able to take everything in.
It's nice to get out and stretch the legs for a few minutes.
Sometimes you just have to pull over on a long road trip if you know what I mean.

Sometimes we just need a little break.
Sometimes there are big stretches where you cannot pull over, so it's good to take advantage when you can.
