Have you limited your activeness on Facebook?
Have you limited your activeness and posts on Facebook?
A year ago, I did. My posts, likes, shares and comments are commodities for Facebook. So I deleted most of the posts - left a few so a future HR manager can see a bit about me. I also deleted most of my photos - no need for public photo albums of every vacation.
Then I went through the settings and limited everything so it says "only I can see" or "friends only" depending on what it was. When in doubt, I erred on the site of caution and limited whatever it was.
Most important - I deleted all app connections and disabled this feature. Apps connected to Facebook are the gateway to privacy hell - remove them all. Don't login with Facebook to anything. Create a new account on your own when it comes to new websites - rather than being lazy and handing the keys to your life to Facebook.
Then I went through my friends list and defriended people who I didn't know. Some had fake names, no need for them.
I also unfollowed everyone. Today, I only follow a few musicians and artists - which I realize are run by their marketing companies. And I follow one closed (meaning my posts don't make it to my feed, but I realize everything I write is trackable) hobby group.
I love my friends and my family members, but I don't want to see their daily thoughts - and for their sake, I hope they don't want to see mine!
A Private Life
Today, I live a private live. I go to Facebook for 1 minute every day or two - and I mean really quick, to see if The Who or Paul McCartney have a new post. There's not much in my feed. Zero friends followed means zero politics on Facebook - wonderful for me.
My life is in the real world - where I am now, where I will be later (home). Yes, my online presence does exist, but it's not where things are happening.
What are you doing to limit your online presence?
You sounds cool with this, human beings shouldn't be pried at the way fbk did it but still don't you think you're giving yourself a lot of trouble on what you should have just let be? Am just thinking.
I agree with that pattern of life. family is very important. the people around are also important. then why leave them in a way often pay attention to others through the media?
that is so informative. i am like your work Thanks very much for sharing!
I am very happy with your article about Facebook account, I agree with treasurebeach, hopefully what you say can give benefit for others, for the future let us be very careful to all post and do not carelessly post issues that invite conflict, let alone tell about negative matter, ok thanks for the information. Good luck always.

My presence on FB is also very limited. Just a couple of very old photos and no posts, no check-ins, nothing. I use it mostly to read some news and... follow a few bands - to keep track of upcoming events and like their posts.
I put just my steemit links there up... But soon I try it close .
My activeness is limited to 5% only, soon its gonna b nil.
I have never been happy with Facebook and I'm only there because it is the only was I can contact some people and there is some local information that I only get there. Still, I also clamped down on all my default share preferences at least a year ago. Non-required info in my profile was deleted and most of the rest is set to "only me".
There is a site that is like Facebook but better called Ong.Social, you should check it out
