A busy parent watching two little ones
A lot of people are unaware that penguins typically will actually lay 2 eggs per breeding summer season. The eggs are not laid simultaneously but the second is laid roughly 2 weeks after the initial egg. At times due to the slight time difference between the two eggs, the different chicks can at times be at different development stages. With one chick looking larger and fledging sooner than its young sibling.
A parent Gentoo penguin watchers over their two young chicks, as the other parent is away foraging.
