Some months ago, someone shared a post by his Facebook friend and as I read up, I felt an instant connection with the thought pattern of the writer.

The language of her post was stellar. So nostalgic, it brought back days when I was serious about writing with impeccable vocabulary.

I looked her up through her profile and saw more amazing posts. It was difficult for me not to love her mind.

I'm not one to desire something from afar and not take any healthy action barring any contradiction. So, I sent a friend request with these words:

"Your posts make my eyes pepper with delight!
But what it does to my head is far more wonderful. I won't mince words. Let's be friends. I'd enjoy that privilege."

One week...

Two weeks...

A month...

Two months...

And I got no reply.

Then suddenly, it occurred to me that I haven't even bothered about that since I sent my request. Neither have I felt offended or even snubbed.

I found out why.

I have been BUSY.

Busy people don't have time to bother about who rejected them, who didn't respond to them, who didn't support them or who didn't agree with them.

Grudge and pettiness do not easily find a space to lodge in a heart that is packed full of ambition, purpose and drive.

Have you ever forgotten that person who abused you chiefly because you were so busy making a success of your own life?

Someone once told me: "Do you remember I didn't used to like you?" I replied pridefully. "Oh, I can't remember!" Busyness makes forgetfulness look so virtuous! LOL

The reason why you are so sensitive is because people have become your task, not your purpose.

Get your hands dirty in work. Fix your eyes on your goals. Thrash your to-do list. Keep at improving yourself. Get a life apart from responding to your critics.
