Adulting adaptations

in #adulting9 years ago

So we've lived in our new house for just over a month now and since my Learning how to adult post I can definitely say we are adapting. Not necessarily successfully adapting but nevertheless.

How are we doing with life?
Have we leveled up our adulting skills?

Dinners and Dishes
As hopeful as I was in the beginning, I soon realised my partner's empty promises were all kaka 💩 He stopped cooking dinners shortly after my post.

He actually hardly even does the dishes after dinner too but then I guess I shouldnt complain since he does them eventually. Bloody learn how to cool bey.

Quick question

How does one remember to take meat out of the freezer every morning?!?!

Like honestly, is there a secret club of some sort that takes turns gettin everyones dinner meat out for them and ready to cook everyday cos if so, where do ya sign up?!

We'll be almost at work and I'm like "oh shit, I forgot to take the meat out" - Like today.
For dinner tonight theres two options:

  • Either stress about defrosting the meat after work OR
  • Eggs on toast

Laundry
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahhahaa what a joke.
Yeah, we still havent quite sorted the laundry arrangements out. Last weekend it pissed down both saturday and sunday so the washing I hung out on friday night.... yeah, It stayed there for a whole week.

And as you can imagine, all of the clothes we wore were not available to wear so I think you can understand my silent #firstworldproblems struggle. I am just grateful my boots helped me keep it classy. (On a side note, I purchased more undies the other week so I'm good for life now!)

Those bloody towels
Oh and we had no clean towels too. Like legit, no towels in the cupboard. My sister came home from Taihape and I had forgotten to let her know about our dilemma but without a hickup she hopped out of the shower clean and dry. Huh?

Then she told me she had used a three week old towel that was left in her room 😂

"hey mum, can I borrow a few towels please. Just till next week?" No, not sugar or flour. However my mum did not hesitate one bit. will always love my muma

What is this sorcery?!

Although we are still struggling to adult - in more areas than one - we have a roof over our heads and food in our bellys so were doing something right.

And also I've started baking too so soon enough well be good to hibernate.
cos its so fucking cold.

Sort:

I knew I wasn't the only one! The first week in my house, I learned trash day is Monday Morning, and recycling is Thursday...I think, How are people suppose to remember this??

Glad to know we are in this together!

Wow, seems like you had it worse than me - Our rubbish and recycling gets picked up on the same day, thank god.

How are people suppose to remember this??

Exactly!! I'm glad we are in this together too!! 😊

cos its so fucking cold.... so agree.

Brain just cant cope with it man.

I never remembered to take the meat out and each day I would be so annoyed! It's better now that I'm at home with my girl, but there are still days when I remember at lunch time and hope it defrosts in time for tea.
And, laundry just plain sucks at winter.
Don't get me started on dishes. Dishes, dishes, dishes....horrible things!

Haha I totally share your frustration 😂
Sometimes I find myself reminiscing about the lovely life I had before I had to grow up.
Pure bliss.
