Keep your coins safe with a Hardware Ledger.

in #review7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemians, hope everyone’s having fun and is all set for weekend. Today I’ll be writing about my new possession. It’s something I was eying on since I first learned about cryptos and I feel everyone should buy one to keep their coins safe.

Weighing just 16.2g and sizing barely 60mm this is not just another good looking pen drive but a step forward to ensure that my coins stay secure.
Ledger Nano S is a Bitcoin, Ethereum and Altcoins hardware wallet, based on robust safety features for storing cryptographic assets and securing digital payments. Can be connected to any computer via USB and embeds a OLED display to double-check and confirm each transactions with a single tap on side buttons.

• MALWARE PROOF
Initialization or restoration of your configuration is fully done on the secure environment of the Ledger Nano S. Your cryptographic secrets are never exposed to the outside world.

Your private keys are never held or known by Ledger or a third party: they are hard locked in the Secure Element. With Ledger Nano S, your wallet remains decentralized, you are your own bank.

Why I picked Nano S?

Since its stores keys in offline, secure environment its away from the reach of hackers.
Like the TREZOR, the S has two physical buttons which add to its security. In order to confirm a payment you need to physically press both buttons at the same time. This makes no hacker could hack into your device and confirm a payment.
If in case its lost; the device will automatically wipe off on 3 failed attempts

The device definitely feels premium and confidence giving. Will try setting up the device tomorrow followed by a review once I use it for a couple of transactions.

great post with useful information.
Nano ledger seems great, but it doesn’t support most the coins that I am holding.
I ll have to wait for some hard wallet, to come in the market, which can support most, if not all of my coins.
But thanks a lot for the information on nana ledger.
Best Regards

Thanks for your comment. There are over 1400 coins in market and I doubt there will be something that can give option to store all of them. I did a lot f homework and realized they all cater to major currencies only.
So far Nano S is the one catering to Max and they keep updating the currency list time to time. Cheers and see you around 😊

thanks for this information.

I've been looking to get a hardware wallet, I look forward to your future review!

I'm equally excited. Thanks.

Thanks for this. I was looking at the Ledger Nano and wondered if it was any good. Please send over your review. I will be following you. All the best.

Surely do. Thanks

Very informative post...I don't know more about this ...This is helpful for me...Thanx for sharing ...Have a good day😊

same to you aditya

A lot of posts I have seen about Crypto Wallet. But how does this work? Pardon my ignorance and laziness to google. Say I have a few Tron and Ripple, what exactly this wallet will do to safeguard them?

It's like a wallet similar to what you have on exchanges. You move coins to and fro in same procedure.

This is safer since the keys are not with any exchange and just you + it's offline so even if your system or password file gets hacked. Hacker would still need physical device to have those coins.
