Silver of the Day #29

Yesterday I wrote about how the Prices of Precious Metals are Falling. For me, that means more trips to the local coin store to see what they have in stock. I like sales and when silver prices drop, I still think it's worth money, but I get it at a discount. So I headed over to the LCS to see what new generic rounds they had gotten in stock.

There wasn't a whole lot because the lower prices have been pushing other people to buy more as well, but I did find this number. It's a 1981 round by the World Wide Mint. I love the toning on this round. I've always liked rounds that were clean and shiny, but this round just jumped out at me. I'm not sure what caused such a drastic toning, but it's very appealing.

The other side is just as impressive. My nickel from a the other day didn't have the rays of sunshine on it, but this round does. Look at how that just pops off the screen. Now you can see how I was practically forced to buy it.

This is my first round from World Wide Mint and it's impressive. It reminder me a lot of American coins because of the Eagle on one side and the woman on the other. The heavy toning just makes it seem older and respected.

Check back tomorrow for more of my finds from the coin store.

you're right man, you had no choice. those coins can be tough!

They call me. I can't just leave them there. It's too painful. :)

you are so compassionate Blondie!

you're doing great. just don't ever change and don't ever lose that big heartedness.

Discount prices are always good. Keep on stacking my friend. Already in Regal Stackers giveaway, but thanks for the heads up.👍

Discounts are the best. I'd love to load up more, but we have bills that need to be paid, so can't spend all our money on the shiny. Ha ha.

Great! Glad you got entered. Regal is very generous and he's encouraged by more people getting involved.

Beautiful coin! Do you have an image of your whole collection? I haven't gone back an looked at all of your posts, so forgive me. :) What is your favorite coin?

Thanks! I try to get a variety of coins, rounds, and bars so it keeps things interesting. There are so many designs that I want to get a good mix of them.

I haven't done a photo on my whole collection yet. Someone else asked about that a week or two ago and I told them that would be like doing a "greatest hits" album after coming out with two songs. Ha ha. I just started collecting recently, so although my collection is growing, it's still rather small. I'm planning on waiting until I reach bigger milestones before I do an overview.

My favorite is often the most recent one that I got... but seriously, I really like the 1.5 ounce Canadian Polar Bear. I thought I had done a post on it, but I can't seem to find it right now, so I'll have to look again. If I haven't done one, then I'll dig it out and I can show you.

Anything older than a day or two is really difficult to find, so no worries. I couldn't find it myself, so here's to hoping that I didn't actually write on it. That would be great because then I could have another idea for a post. ;)

You are welcome! That is awesome that you have a large variety. Canadian Polar Bear? That sounds so cool! I haven't collected any bars yet. But they look cool will probably get into that someday in the future. I can't wait to dig out my collection and go through it again. lol every few years at take it out and look at it haha. Need to add more coins. haha

There's actually a bonus bear on there, so even though it's only one coin, it's like you get a bear free. Or you pay for a one ounce bear and a 0.5 ounce bear and they mashed them into a supercoin.

I like the silver bars. I got my first ones a little while ago, and they're addictive.

That is really cool. :) Yeah I bet they are addicting! I better not buy any yet. LOL :)

NO! You should buy them! If you buy them and take pictures, it temporarily lessens my symptoms. Then it makes them worse. Stakitus, the disease that afflicts us, is basically a pyramid scheme. We constantly have to get new members so we can get temporary relief from Stakitus. But then it makes it worse, so we need even more members to help make those symptoms better. Make sense? ;) Ha ha.

LOL hilarious. :) Yes makes total sense! ;) haha

My friend, could it be possible to take bigger photos? I am an old man and my sight, even with glasses, is not very good...

Sorry about that, @ronaldoavelino! I have tried taking closer pictures with my camera, but the quality isn't as good there. I normally use Busy.org to view posts and such, so there is the ability to zoom in.

I'll see what I can do about getting bigger pictures though. I want you to be able to enjoy them. Thanks for letting me know!

Don't worry. Now that I know that busy.org zooms the photos, I will simply use it. Thanks for the info.

Thanks, man. I appreciate that. In the future I'll try to zoom in a bit more.

Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold

It seems to be bronzing a little bit. Kind of a light shiny tan. I like how the outer darker portions of the coin sides contrast with the inner part. They make the woman and the eagle stand out really nice, and it accentuates them even more, like their rising off the coin.

It seems to me, though, if people are making a run on your LCS, you're going to need to stand out there in front or something and make sure the shiny is all going to nice homes. You know what happens if it doesn't!

I told it to wear sunscreen, but it didn't listen to me. Show this picture to your grandkids and tell them that if they don't wear their sunscreen that they'll turn into a bronzed coin like this person. ;)

I probably should take responsibility for making sure all the silver is going to a safe home. That won't make the shop owners mad at all. Or the people. I'm sure most people want a strange man digging through their bags to see what they bought and make sure it's a "good fit" for their house. Heh.

"Sir? Yes excuse me. I need to take a look in the bag?"

"What? Why? Who are you?"

"I'm with the Happy Silver Happy Home Consortium. We ensure that any silver bought here is a good match with the buyer."

"What? I've never heard of that..."

"We're a relatively new organization. Please hand over the bag."

"You're crazy." [Car door slams. Squealing of tires.]

"Control, this is mobile seven-niner-niner, over."

"Mobile seven-niner-niner this is control, over."

"Control, we have a runner. Just leaving the LCS at 5th and Elm, over."

"Roger that, seven-niner-niner. We're dispatching a containment unit now, over."

"Roger that, control. Mobile seven-niner-niner out."

Heh.

LOL. That's great! You should write a whole short story on that. It sounds amazing! I'd read it.

Thanks for playing along. That was fun.

Okay, so I've still got the Seattle Transit Token post I'm contemplating, and there's several more of the yard decoration stories I haven't put together yet and onceuponatime basically challenged me to fictionally fill his backstory in for his years in Nepal. I'm not sure if I'm going to get to that last one, but anyway. I've got a backlog, man, a backlog!

I'll consider doing more with it, though. My humor seems to be working a little more off the cuff these days, so intentionally doing it as opposed to riffing off of something you or someone else has said doesn't seem to work as well. Unless you're humor is really dry. As in dead bone dry.

Having a backlog of things to write can be a good thing. It means you won't run out of material. One of the main downsides for me with my normal topics is that I like to write about coins I have. That means I have to buy the coins. That means I have to figure out how to get money for said coins. It's only so long until my wife discovers that her show boxes aren't filled with shoes. ;)

This my friend is what we call in the vernacular, "An expensive hobby." Expensive being relative, obviously, but if your outlay is higher than your income, then, you've got yourself a hobby. At least this one does provide some kind of return.

Yeah, it's nice to have topics. Unfortunately, they're all the kind that takes longer to put together because there's nothing to refer to other than what comes floating out of my brain. And sometimes the brain doesn't want to cooperate.

So, I probably need to find something I'm interested in that people are also interested in that I can report on. The only thing I've collected to any great degree that I still have are comic books, and from what I can tell, reviewing comic books on Steemit isn't where the big rewards are. Or the medium. Or the small. :)

Yep, it's a hobby. And I haven't made a dime off it. Actually, I did get that one free dime. But other than that, it's just money that I'm spending. I've kind of been considering cutting back on my spending as we have other ways we could use the money. Hmmm.

When you're dependent on your brain and it's not cooperating, that's a tough spot to be in. And if you don't drink coffee, you in another tough spot.

I don't know there's money in reviewing comic books here, but I do know there's money in reviewing anime on Patreon. I heard of a guy making over $60,000 per year just by watching episodes of something and commenting as he watched. Maybe you could do something like that with comics if you set up a Patreon account.

That is a nice looking coin @themanwithnoname! People freak with dropping prices, but if you're looking to buy, it's such a perfect time to do it! I can see why this one was calling your name :)

Thanks, it's gorgeous. I do like the lower prices. With the quantities that I'm buying, I don't end up saving too much money, but it's the principle of the matter. I like getting a good deal, and I think it will hold it's value later, so I'm happy to stock up when it's on sale.

I know you want to make money on all of this, but I can tell you totally love it, and that's what makes it so awesome!

I really do enjoy collecting it. The fact that it's holding value and helping me protect my family's future is cool too. Thanks for saying hi!

That's a really nice way of seeing it all :)
