RE: Silver of the Day #31

A lot of people start with coins and rounds (like I did), but eventually they start finding one ounce bars with different patterns like this one, and they get hooked. I'm probably more hooked on finding cool patterns than I am on getting the lowest price for weight of silver. I did pay a bit extra in premiums for these. But they're unique and cool.

That is cool. I think it would be cool just to have a plain 1 ounce silver bar. I will start with that first, lol before I start paying a little extra for cool designs. lol Just need some extra cash for collecting! haha

So from my experience, it would be difficult to get a plain one. I don't think it would be impossible, but they're just called blanks. I don't know that many people sell them. If you just want to get any one ounce silver bar, head to your local coin shop and look in their bargain bin. Normally they have some coins, rounds (they're shaped liked coins, but are made by private mints, not governments), and bars that they sell for a small premium. This one I got for around $17. Not too bad of a premium!

I hear you about needing more cash for getting more silver. This would be a great time with the prices so low.

oh really?? That is so cool, yeah I need to go to the coin shop near me and check things out. I totally didn't even think about that. Nice suggestion, thanks! :)

I haven't bought anything online yet. I haven't had an abundance of money, so it's not worth it to buy stuff if I'm not going to get free shipping. Therefore, I go to the coin store with $50 or so and see what I can pick up. Sometimes it's only three ounces at a time, but that's still something. And if you find one that has a great variety, then you're going to get hooked very quickly. :)

hahaha cool! will have to film my coin collection video soon! :) And might just check out the coin shop tomorrow. ha!

I just saw your comment now, so "tomorrow" is now probably "today," but just in case, most of the coin stores around me are closed on Sunday so if you're thinking of going on Saturday, you're probably good. If you're thinking of going Sunday, it might not work out so well.

Normally I would let people figure out when their own stores are open, but there's one near me that's closed Sunday/Monday. I tried going on a Monday once because I didn't check the hours. The disappointment was rough. When you're anticipating silver and get none, it's a trying thing to deal with. I'll leave it at that. ;)

Yeah I meant Saturday. haha It turns out the store near me is only a collectables place, I thought they had coins too. There are stores further away that I will need to check out at some point. haha I just opened up my coin collection, I have bags of vintage pennies I have never gone through. haha time to start filling in my penny books!

Aw, that's a bummer they don't have coins. Coins are collectible! Hey, it sounds like your Saturday just got planned out for you. Ha ha. Have fun!
