Promote What You Love...

When I was a child, time seemed to move slowly... it seemed to take forever for the school year to end. It seemed like such a long time between birthdays and holidays. Around the age of twenty-five years, I began to notice that time seemed to be moving somewhat faster. Then through thirty-five, forty-five, and fifty-five, time seemed to shorten substantially. Now in my sixties, it seems like another week or month has passed before I can turn around.

Our lives on this earth are limited and will come to an end some day. There is only a small amount of time to do whatever we might wish to accomplish. How do we want to spend that time — promoting what we love and enjoying our time with it, or spending our time focused on what we hate and bashing it? The former allows us to spend our time bathed in positive energy, uplifting ourselves and others, while the latter can bring us down and leave us feeling depressed.

There is nothing wrong with speaking our minds when we have something constructive to say about things that bother us or need some advice, and a little commiseration with others goes a long way in making us feel better sometimes. But, if concentrating on the negative aspects of life occupies a substantial percentage of our thoughts and time, we might be doing ourselves — and those around us — more harm than good. Is that the sort of legacy we wish to leave behind?
