OLD BARN № 042
This is such a unique barn, as it is rare to see one with brick on the lower level and wood framing above! The drive-bay goes all the way through, with a huge area for hay-storage and such above. With gates at both ends of the drive-bay, the lower-level might have stables for keeping livestock protected at night.

It is also unusual to see such large windows for ventilation in barns, but this would allow the upper-area to be cooler in summer and could easily be covered in winter with plywood or shutters to keep out the cold winds.

As the aerial photo shows, there is a quite large and lovely pasture adjacent to the barn, which is hidden by the trees in the photo. It looks like a fun place to explore!

I personally love old architecture like that. Seeing it still standing soothes the soul.
I know in Spain granaries (called Horreo's) were built with stone and brick "feet" to keep rodents away from the grain - they couldn't climb the stone! Maybe this barn was built for similar effect.
@thekittygirl - lovely old barn, I like finding hidden treasures like this as well. And it amazing how some of this old architecture is still standing after all these years. It's fun to imagine the life that the old barn has seen.
