OLD BARN № 038 & 039
OLD BARN № 038:
This simple but lovely structure was obviously once part of a working farm, with its hay door situated above the main opening into the drive bay of the barn. The extension on the right side could have once been a mere covered shelter (with open sides), but appears to have been enclosed to serve as a greenhouse. What a perfect use for it!
OLD BARN № 039:
I rather like the patchwork of mismatched wood that was used to repair the extension on the right-side of this building, as it gives a very rustic feel to it. Since the main entryway is on a different side than what is showing in this photo, there's no telling for what purpose this structure might have originally been designed, but it is cute!
The barns are on a large tract of land that is also home to the Pine Valley Driving Range, a place where golfers can go to practice their swings and receive coaching. Decades ago, this large and open area was probably a field, planted with crops. The screenshot below, from Google Maps, shows an aerial view of the property with the house, barns, and driving range marked:

I always love passing by old barns like this! It's nice to see when people take the time and effort to try to keep them erect instead of just plowing them down to make room for more modern buildings. Love the idea of a greenhouse attached to the first one. Seems like it would make perfect sense to continue the planting in cooler weather. ;)
Lovely snap and good explanation - A good read.

Want to have your post on the map too?
Always curious about the stories these places hold
Your barn pictures always make me wonder 😊
Thank you for sharing
I love old barns and that one is amazing. And to picture the people who lived there had worked hard on their farms. I love watching movies like that and history about how things were done before all the mashine changed and took over 😜
I can imagine much of the hard work they did was exhausting but also a bit like therapy... Being outside and work together... I don't know but I wouldn't mind it.. Lol
Have you ever lived on a farm?
My grandparents did when I was very young.
Love your edits kitty and amazing pictures as always.
I will post mine soon to that I took near our summer house.
Have a wonderful day my friend. Much love 🤗🌞🌹💕

Cool. Imagine the stories behind these old barns... people, maybe generations.
These are beautiful! I love old buildings. Old barns, houses, mills. There were alot of old and abandoned structures around our homestead in Southern Missouri.
