''MY LIFE AS A TEACHER AND I AM PROUD OF IT ''

Being a teacher is a challenging role and fulfilling. Ever since when I was young I really wanted to be a teacher. I remember I borrowed my grandmother 's high heels shoes, I was six years old then and gather all my cousin in front of our house wherein there are blackboard and chairs and act as a teacher with them. My grandmother is one of my idols since she is an elementary teacher in one of the famous public school in Cebu ( Abellana National School ). She handles science and mathematics subject. I always look at her every time she went home from school wearing those uniforms and high heels. I even told myself someday I will be a professional teacher like my grandmother.

After I graduated my high school, this is the time that I have been waiting for so long to be a teacher. but unfortunately, my dreams were gone because of my parents. they really wanted me to become a nurse. Since my uncle and aunts are in the United States working there as a nurse. they have in their mind that it's easy for me to go there and work. That time I was so depressed and I really don't want to go to college. But I don't have any choice I followed my parent's decision and graduated Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.

I had an experience working in a hospital for 2 years but I'm not really happy and contented. I had this feeling that there is lacking in my life and I don't have the motivation to work since then I resigned and work what I really love which is teaching. I applied as an Esl teacher in an offline school in Cebu way back 2006. At first, it was difficult to adjust since this is a different field that I used to work. I can see a lot of Korean children running around the field. they are smiling and playing with each other . and they are calling me ''teacher,'' I felt happy, motivated to teach them and learn their culture as well to have an effective learning.

I had a student before her english name is ''Rosa '' she is a Korean and she was fourteen years old that time when she came here in Cebu to learn English . I was one of her teachers and I had witnessed her difficulty in learning , she was really zero in english like I had to translate the words to their language for her to understand. but because she has a dream to ba a teacher also so she pursue it and after six months of staying here in Cebu she really improves a lot .

After 8 years she came back here last January 5, 2017 to visit me again and to tell the good news that she is now a professional teacher, I am so happy for her and seeing her grow as a lady now with good ethics and fluent in english . She treated me some coffee and gave me a lot of presents one way of showing her gratefulness to me. and we went shopping on the next day and spend time together.

Last 2012 ,I worked as an online teacher of one of the famous Japanese school here in Cebu. this is a very different platform which I had to teach a student for twenty-five minutes in my own flexible schedule. which is very convenient to me , since I love to travel around the world and I had time to spend with my family and friends. I had one close student, she is a mother and had two children, she is very precious to me because she was there when I was down, last 2015 I had my first ever breakup after a ten years relationship. I really had a hard time coping with it. I can't even do my daily routine, I was physically and emotionally disturbed that time. and only that student I can express my feelings freely aside from my parents. She gave me advices about life expereinces and how to deal with relationship problems . after a few months, I finally move on and happy already. After which , last December 21 2017 , She visited me with his husband to meet me in person and to check my status if Im already okay and no more worries. We had dinner in a buffet restaurant and have some dessert which is her favorite '' halo -halo '' and she gave me some cookies and cake for souvenirs. we really had a great time together. and I am so grateful for their kindness.

I believe teachers play a vital role in our life. They are the one who molded us with values and teachings and they even impart their own knowledge and skills. There will be no doctors, nurses, soldiers, policeman and other professions if there is no teacher who patiently helps and guides them with their dreams. I'm very happy and contented with what I become now, I'm just a simple person but help a lot of students in my own little ways. I'm so proud that I become a teacher and pursue my dreams with no regret.
