Steemit Engagement Challenge S6/W2 - What steps would you take to save the soil?

in Hindwhale Community2 years ago

Soil, is one of the major element of our home planet Earth, it is the top surface layer of our earth which, covered all the land and it is basically a mixture of minerals, water, gases and organic matters. And it is also an essential element like water on which we depends a lot to survive, it is like powered gold, and we can't loose it or can't even imagine life on earth. And it is our duty to save it and we should do it as soon as possible before it become too late.

Well, Soil also further divided into four major layers according to the composition and structure; like - Layer o, Layer A, Layer B, Layer C and Layer R.

  • Layer O :- It is the top layer of the soil and also the most fertile layer of the soil at is made with all type of decomposed organic materials and good amount of minerals. Also it is the home of fungi, earth worm and different types of bacteria.

  • Layer A :- It is also very fertile and made of humus, and it is the place where seed germination process took place, and it is the home to earth worms, fungi and several micro bacterias.

  • Layer B :- This layer is less fertile and also a little harder in comparison to it's previous layer, but it can hold much water in comparison to layer O and A.

  • Layer C :- This is not fertile at all and mainly made of broken rocks and this layer is also known as Saprolite horizon.

  • Layer D :- Totally hard and made of huge bed rocks, and it is also not fertile at all.

In this modern era, there are a lot of factors are responsible for both soil pollution and erosion, which includes irresponsible human activity, heavy rain, heavy flood and wind flow too. But first we have to know what is soil pollution and erosion because people often think they are same.

Soil Pollution, in simple words is the process by which harmful and hazardous materials mixed with soil and affects it's quality and lastly makes it infertile and toxic. This happens when, farmers, use artificial fertilizer in a large quantity without testing the soil and for good and fast production of fruits and vegetables, And also the war and artificial human waste also plays a majore role too.

Soil Erosion, it is basically happened due to heavy rain, flood, uncontrolled grazing, logging, mining and fast wind flow. And in this process the soil doesn't become toxic or polluted we lost the fertile layer of the soil.

Well, Soil Pollution and Erosion are different to each other but they affects in the same way and if this continues we will definitely don't have much fertile land to grow and produce enough food for all the people and lastly we saw war and destruction only.

Plant Much Trees:- Continuous logging is another reason by which we lost soil, and we need to stop this fast and then we should focus on planting new trees, because the root of the tree helps a lot in holding the soil tightly, and saves it from erosion.

Using Natural Fertilizers in Place of Artificial Fertilizers:- We should avoid using artificial fertilizers and if we use them then must test the quality of the soil, but it is best to avoid them, but we should learn organic farming and use organic fertilizers to grow foods and flowers, organic farming is difficult at first but after the right training and learning it will also produce the same amount of food.

Plant Grass And Introducing Earth Worms:- This is the best step we should take to turn stiff and hard land to a fertile land.

Good Management of Waste :- Lastly, the soil is polluting day by day due to the increased amount of plastic and other toxic elements, this is happening because we just throw waste anywhere without thinking twice, and we should better control it by using sustainable product, dustbins and recycling method.

I would like to invite my friend @pathanapsana, @petface, @aaru and @shravana to participate in the contest.

  • Yes, I support your opinion. Using organic fertilizer instead of artificial fertilizer and reduce the application of huge fertilizer on soil can save our soil.
  • Thank for publishing "Quality Content" in our "Hind Whale Community" and we also respect 🙏 your hard work, and we want to thank you for the participation, 👍🏻 Best of Luck.

Thank you pea.☺️

Great analysis but what I believe is that the matter is not soil deep or in another words if I compare it with human body, skin deep but we shall have to look it into a broader perceptive. I wish you another success 👍

Thank you for your line and I'm not going to judge anything because every person have their own view and own creative mind.👍🏻

Due to heavy chemical usage, this also spoils the soil a lot. We need to use natural fertilizers, and from this we can prevent soil damage.

Nice entry from you. Best of luck, my friend.

Use of natural fertilizers in place of artificial fertilizers:- We should avoid using artificial fertilizers and if we use them must check the soil quality, but it is better to avoid them, but we should learn organic farming and use organic fertilizers. Food and flowers, organic farming is difficult at first but after proper training and learning it will produce the same amount of food.

The application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to crops results in marginally higher yields, which are unhealthy, and the soil loses its fertility.
On the other hand, the application of organic fertilizers or natural fertilizers makes the plants healthier. Also the soil can retain its fertility.

Thanks bro for your kind words.

Assalam-o-alaikum,

Your knowledge about soil is on next level you explained the structure and levels of soil in amazing way.

Soil Erosion, it is basically happened due to heavy rain, flood, uncontrolled grazing, logging, mining and fast wind flow. And in this process the soil doesn't become toxic or polluted we lost the fertile layer of the soil.

Yes, you're right that soil erosion is basically not toxic and does not pollute the soil but soil erosion is actually the loss of fertility and if we don't have fertile soil we can't fulfill the requirements of a large population.

We have to take some serious steps to preserve our soil from erosion and we have to control the deforestation and should consider reforestation.

Best of luck in this contest, Thank you for your impressive and informative Article.
