Greenhouse Digging Stopped ~ Waiting For Permission ~ Mouse Mansion In Garage
We recently purchased and 18 acre homestead and are taking it off the grid and trying to become self sufficient on a budget.
I started to dig out an underground greenhouse but thanks to a comment on my YouTube channel, I was told to wait and get permission. There is a law in Michigan that states you must get permission to "disturb the soil" in any way before you start to dig. The person on the phone even said tilling the soil requires permission before you start.
This is in order to prevent you from hitting any underground cables or gas lines.
So I stopped for now.
We moved in to two fully loaded houses and a garage plus the 18 acres of land. The homes were full of everything. They were vacation homes and had furniture, dishes, appliances, pots, pans and more. They were literally full as it someone had just walked out.
Which, essentially, they did since they had used the place for a family get together just days before we moved.
This means though that we have to empty the homes in order for us to move our own things in. The furniture and appliances are a nice bonus. We also had to clean out the entire garage before we could begin to use it.
This was one of the projects for today. I had to empty out the garage in order to remove a "mouse mansion" which spanned from wall to wall in the back of the garage.
There were newspapers, telephone books and more in there which the mice loved and used as nesting material.

Notice in the thumbnail photo of Reid's garage.
On the left side of the garage you can see a white dehumidifier there.
Reid complained almost the entire summer of High Humidity in the trailer but did nothing about it.
He claimed he found the dehumidifier near the end of summer during this "Garage Cleaning" video episode.
Just another example where Reid @thediyworld fails to follow through on anything himself.
Actually that was not working for us enough to make it feel cool inside so we gave it to a family member who needs it.
We need an air conditioner in here.

Yes. Although I think most people do not know about it, and the law is not enforced strongly. Me being in the public eye means I get turned in for everything I do, so I do it right.
Except for the fact you did not do it right. You started digging BEFORE you called to search for utilities (if you did at all). So actually, you did it completely wrong. Your attention to detail, as usual, is impeccable.

Yeah in Michigan you have to call Ms Digg and have ALL the utility companies come out and spray paint the ground or grass indicating all the lines. I did it for my garden last year and all utility companies came out within two days. So I was good to go with the garden.

I am aware you can also schedule this procedure via Internet without talking to anyone.

The digging has not continued to date either since the alleged "approval".
