Painterly and Expressionistic Photography Part 2

Introduction

As a follow up to my last post here are some more painterly and expressionistic shots.  Please feel free to have your say and comment - it is always appreciated.

I hope you like them.

The Photos

"Sensuality" .  A natural light shot with backlighting. This required a lot of care to ensure skin texture was preserved after retouching. Model: Alex Oke.

An outdoor summery shot.  The palette here was quite bright and vibrant. Model : Rachelle Summers.

"Gothik" -  This was a very expressionistic piece.  I used extensive painting to remove extraneous detail and simplify the image.  Model: Alice Beauvoisin

This is like a beauty shot but with a more cross-processed kind of look than you would normally see with this type of portrait.  Model: Axel Von Rosencoff

I really like Gothik, she's looking straight into the sensor not even the lens, lol.

That's my favorite as well. For some reason, when I saw it I instantly thought "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" which was my favorite show when I was a university student.

The last shot is really amazing. I love the colors....especially in the hair.

Sensuality is the best for me. I think 10 years ago 99% of good result on shooting pictures was created using available, natural light. Now we have photoshop. :-)

Thanks. I think you are mistaken though. You can't fix a poorly lit photo in Photoshop - that is just an excuse for people who are scared of using Photoshop. Photoshop allows you improve what you have but if you start of with crap you will just end up with different crap.

I love the colors in the "summer shot" I'm sure it isn't everyones cup of tea but the brightness appeals to me it would make a beautiful painting I've ended up with shots with similar exposure before by accident but sometimes accidents happen for a reason beautiful art happens when we let go of what we are "supposed" to do and just relax and let it happen

Thanks. Yes I would completely agree:)

I like the Gothik one it has a mystery about it smokey and dark

I agree with @johnnyrevolution :) The last shot is my favorite. The color is lovely and I like how the depth of field puts her shoulders out of focus.

Random-chick Dead-panning the camera is not expressionism. :)

THIS! .. this is!

Lol. That is awesome:)

I have just got a new Nikon coming soon well new to me but used cant wait to get started

Fantastic. It's always fun to get new gear:)
