The queen will often be brought to her stud and both will occupy a sanitary space. Initial dialogue between the stud and queen will be observed and this makes the female aware of her studs presence. Over the next period, she will be prepared for the mating process.

After some time, the breeder will identify a moment to release the queen from her residence and interact with the male for mating. It’s worth noting that prior to mating, the claws of both cats should be trimmed as the climax of the mating action often concludes with an aggressive confrontation. The female will let out a distinct cry to mark the end of the activity and turn to fend off the male. Multiple mating attempts should observed for a successful pregnancy and a relationship between the stud and queen is often established over this time. Breeders will supervise each interaction to ensure the safety of both cats. It can take a number of days for the mating to result in pregnancy and the breeder will have to dedicate time to oversee this. After a bond has been established however, the cats can be left to mate freely and cohabit.
