Some interesting facts about cats pt.2

So, in my last post I shared with you some interesting facts about cats you might not have known before, and today, we're continuing that with part two of "facts you might not have known about cats".

If you still haven't got yourself a new family member in the form of a cat, and have stumbled here through the dissemination of cat content on the internet, then 1) Hallelujah for the internet and 2) visit the shelter and see if you any kitty takes your fancy!

Now, it's time for some more facts you might not have known about cats!

• Cat's are instinctual hunters. We have seen them getting a lone with little creatures like hamsters, squirrels and birds, but these are exceptions to the rule. Kittens will paw at it's food to mimic bringing back the food from a hunt and checking to see if it is safe to eat.

• Contrary to human hours of operation, cat's are the most active at dawn and twilight. These are the prime hunting hours and also happens to be the hours we wish to be left alone for sleep. Just hope they don't bring you their prizes at night.

• Did you know, cat's also carry a lot of pride and self-esteem. After catching their prey, they like to engage in a sort of tension releasing dance which helps builds the cat's self-esteem and confidence!

• Cat's like to eat food which are body temperature. This is because freshly killed prey is this temperature.

• The cat has poor sight at short distances and their whiskers will often reach forward to help them identify what is directly infront of them.

• Speaking of whiskers, they also function like antennae, they are so sensitive that they can detect movements nearby. They do this by detecting slight changes in air pressure and currents, essentially giving cats a radar.

• Cat's are not ambidextrous, they have a preference for one paw or another.
