Cats and Mobility Issues II
One obvious symptom of lameness is when a cat walks in a certain manner that seems unbalanced. It places dominance on certain legs and will find general discomfort otherwise. Playing with a cat and inducing exercise to assess its physical condition is important and will help figure out whether there is a problem with walking, running or even both.
Assessment needs to be carried out under different conditions including time of day and surfaces. Elevated inclines, stair climbs and jumping should all be assessed to see if there are any reluctance to carry out certain motions. It is often telling if a physical examination of the problem leg will seem thinner due to a lack of muscle being retained or built.
