Cat Flu and Infection III

The virus can remain dormant within carriers and in turn infect other cats upon interaction with one another. While there are occasions where cat social visits are scheduled, it will be worth noting that these should be cancelled and perhaps rescheduled a number of weeks in the future. While a cat suffering from flu may have recovered, its environment will remain contaminated for a number of days.

If a cat in the household is infected, it would be best to separate the living space and be sure to not cross contaminate living utilities. This includes feeding bowls, toys, grooming kits and any other common tools that are often used for multiple cats. Clothing and hands should also be kept sanitary between infected as they too can carry infectious particles.
