Is Marriage Really Worth it?

in #relationships7 years ago (edited)

Yes!

In my opinion, nothing teaches a man tolerance like marriage. Nothing teaches a man management and multitasking like marriage. God bless you if you have a good partner, you have little to worry about. But if you got one of the common ones, the ones that get your engines working hard all day, then blessed are you too because one way or the other, you will learn things you wouldn't learn if you were not married.

Marriage is intended to be a place of sacrifice and sacrifice is nothing interesting. You will have to lay down your opinions, ideas, wills and luxuries most times just to make peace reign. No wonder they say marriage is not for babes, it's for the strong and ready.

So if you were thinking Romeo and Juliet when you think about marriage, sorry, but it doesn't always work that way.At the end of the day, it's about you and your partner and your resolve to make your home a beautiful one.

So by all means, if you are not yet married, seek someone who is mature enough to weather the storm of marriage with you, because there mostly will be storms… It is in overcoming these storms that the true meaning and purpose in marriage unravels.

I disagree. Men give up too many rights by getting married. If they have children, then that's it, they have very few rights when thing go bad!

So many men have become homeless, destitute or even killed themselves, simply because they bought into the 'marriage, wife and chidren' tradition/plilosophy.

Umm, the man has the right to say "no" before getting married. If he gets married he is responsible for the marriage and the children and everything that follows is his responsibility, marriage, a wife and children cannot be blamed for this.

Thanks @sweetpea you just nailed it. Everyone should be held responsible for their decisions. Marriage is no child's play and it's not a blind date. There must have been a wedding at least, with some vows taken in front of some witnesses.

So everyone is expected to walk into it with full information about what happens in marriage. The problem is, most folks just want the bliss without the sacrifice and it doesn't really work that way.

You do realize that it is usually women who divorce men, rather than the other way round?

"Umm, the man has the right to say "no" before getting married."

And?

I am saying that they should say "no", so your answer is redundant.

Any way, I think you should be saying, "everything that follows is his AND HER responsibility". My point was that women get more rights than men even though we are supposed to have equality. Many men do not know this when they are getting married.
