Update on the build

in #construction9 years ago (edited)

You have likely notice it has been a few days with nothing new on the house build. And though Friday nothing more happened over the weekend we got some news. The septic system is arriving before our loan closes on Wednesday morning, and we have to have half the septic costs up front when it is delivered which was sometime today. (I can not verify if it was delivered as I was busy and didn't get back out to the site after paying the half down)

When we found out over the weekend that it would be arriving today and we needed just over $7K for that. And we are nearly broke from the costs of the build as it is. So we had to figure out how to come up with that much cash. When I had an idea. My husband use to be in the CNC trade and have two very large rolling tool boxes of CNC tooling. I suggested he contact some of his former CNC colleagues since he is no longer in that field and see if any of them would be interested in buying some of the tools. Needless to say it was apparently a great idea because after a few calls and a couple of hours we raised the money we needed for the septic system.

Then I had to contact our lender this morning to let them know what was going on, because you have to document every dime. They told me when we close on Wednesday if we submit the receipt they will reimburse us for the costs, so we will have that in case costs run above what is expected. Because you never know what you will find once you start digging. And we are really close to Mounds State Park. Basically it means there is a chance that construction stops once digging starts if any artifacts are found. That would be bad. Because then we would have to rush to find someplace to rent. And if it comes in on budget, maybe we can plan to use that money to come to 2018 Steemfest.

I am not sure if they are breaking ground tomorrow or Wednesday but I will be out there to take the first shovel full of dirt out of the ground. Even though others will be doing the work. I want the symbol of breaking the ground for the work. It may seem silly, but our original plans for our build got changed because of our current landlords situation. So we now don't have the time and have no choice but to hire out most of the work.

Right now it looks like this

Soon the yard will be tore up before the septic system and the foundation work before it will eventually look something like this. It rolls off the line in 11 days and should arrive to the site in about 14 days give or take a day or so. Then once everything is secured and connected and the inside in finished off where they bring the house together should only take a couple of days. I hope in 3 weeks I am moving into my new home.

It is coming together! Great job!

Hope all will go well for you!!

It has had it's trying moments but it is finally coming together now that site work has started, the house is nearly done, it is being build off site and being brought in pieces and will be finished on the site.

This is just soooooooo exciting: Your own place; Cate's Hungrymans Friend Cafe ( https://www.facebook.com/4our2angels/ ); Larry's counting 15,000,000th tab goal (and beginning the journey towards 16,000,000th tab counted); and, of course, my baby ( "THE BIG PROJECT" ) all growing and developing during the autumn of 2017!!! WOW!!!
